[Speed daddy]

Went to Colorado to visit family for Christmas 2019. Decided to go test drive a used white Fiesta ST. After a couple hours of haggling I left the dealer ship with a 2019 metallic gray Fiesta ST. Picked it up for a daily driver that I could use as a back up track car.

Made the trip from Colorado back to Texas. Spent the first 1000 driving the car pretty easy. Really liking this car so far! As soon as I got home I picked up a used set of 16x7 Sparco Terras with 215/45-16 BFG Rivals for cheap.

After a week of ownership I took it to the local autocross. Entered in HS and placed 3nd in open. 1st and 2nd place were driving a Porsche GT3.

Second autocross with the car. I really like the way it handles. Has a ton of body roll but other than that it’s pretty good. This is the first fwd car I’ve driven competitively. Would have placed 1st in open but hit a cone on my last and best run. A little disappointed because but placed behind the GT3 again.

Doing some daily duties. Was able to fit new wheels and tires for the racecar in the back with no problems.

Threw the car on the scales to see how much it weighed. Cross weights aren’t too far off.

I’m on the other side of the state in El Paso. Seen a couple FiSTs in town but none of them actually drive em.

Took the FiST out to a private track day at Arroyo Seco Raceway to get a baseline. Managed to run a 1.23.0. Lap record is 1.20.3 for reference. I love it. Our track is relatively cheap. $500 for a all day track rental with a limit of 5 people.

Bet those Porsche drivers didn't like a cheap Ford Economy Car darned near beating them. That's the thing about the FiST, ford snuck an excellent sports car well under the radar. Just wish the 1.6 and 2.0 engines shared the same engine block, it would make for an excellent sleeper.

Back when my brother was running autocross in a 77 Camaro in the late 70's and early 80's he beat a 911 Turbo at Nelson Ledges in Ohio and the driver just destroyed his helmet when he got out of his Porsche. Of course I did help my brother lean on the 350 in the Camaro just a bit.

The Porsche guys are really cool. The Sparco terras are actually from their old FiST. Pretty cool to come pretty close to them in a super cheap car.

Picked up a Whiteline rear bar to help with the body roll and rotation. Didn’t mention it but I also picked up a accessport and flashed to the COBB stage 1.

My car didn’t come with the Recaro package. I want the seats but don’t wanna spend too much money on them. Almost got lucky and found a Recaro package FiST at the junkyard. Someone pulled the front Recaros before I got there.
