Ya seen that before its a total laugh. Stock base Fiesta’s are dirt cheap. You can get all day long for like 13k the Ecoboost was pricey but the FiST? A relative bargain! Well you know consumer reports bases their pricing analysis off sticker not what people actually pay.

Even at sticker its still a great bargain pocket rocket! But there are definitely huge deals to be had on completely brand new ones I will say that's a for sure! [party]

If you're looking at sub compacts and just consider the ST to be a slightly higher trim level then they're right about pricing and the rest. It's just not how we see it as enthusiasts, I never even looked at the base models and what they cost.

These are the kind of out of touch journalists that will turn around in 20 years and have an article called:

"Fiesta ST - The Forgotten Classic"

I mean, $20k is pricey for a Ford Fiesta... But $20k for a competent hot hatch is bargain.

Yeah I paid 17,500 for my brand new 2017 model. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made. Forbes can suck a fat herpes ridden cock. They wouldn't know a good car if it hit them in the face.

Just like the regular news but even more like the talking heads full of political BS that tend to skip right over the fact that our whole system is FUBAR.
A lot of people with a lot to say about a lot of things from the rather difficult perspective of their heads up their arses.

------------
As for many writing automotive statements ask them to explain how they would take a totally base model and upgrade it to the ST specs and what it would cost to achieve the same level of performance, better yet driving experience(which many have no clue about at all). It would be hugely higher in time and money.

Well, consumer reports is really talking about the standard fiesta.
If you take another fun enthusiast car, the Mazda Miata/Fiat 124 spider and see the $30k price tag and think it's a bargain, your drinking the kool-aid.
A base Mazda 3 is $19k...along with all the other econoboxes out there.
Are any of them worth the money? Not really, but at this point in the market, if your not buying some SUV/ crossover or pick up, your going to pay high dollar for what you get, because sedans are in low demand.
Is the Fiesta ST a bargain? For what it is, I'd say yes. But from a non-enthusiast standpoint, then I'd say no.

Also keep in mind that alot of writers in these media outlets can be "persuaded" by which ever manufacture is paying them the most for advertising space.
Incorrect, but you can believe whatever makes you sleep better at night. I was Motor Trend's Road Test Editor for 5 years and our Editorial Department had nothing to do with the Advertising Department. We weren't even on the same floor of the building. But I digress, you apparently worked there and had a completely different experience than me.

Consumer Repertoire bases its opinions off of brand name and reputation. The least reliable Sony Trinitron and Walkman junk got rave reviews from Consumer Repertoire simply because it had Sony's name on it. Take fly-by-night brand that by some fluke managed to get one product right and it gets horrible reviews simply because it doesn't have certain brand name on it.

Consumer Repertoire simply tells people what they think they want to "hear". Without exception they've been $hitting on domestic nameplates and adorning Japanese makes for decades and will never ever cease. It's how they built their base of fans. Even the best of companies sometimes get it wrong, and the worst sometimes get it right. But not according to Consumer Repertoire...

Oh ya well aware of that. For years Nissan never got as high as Toyota or Honda in their rankings but they were building great reliable cars. This was back all through the 90’s.
I would buy and deive them all the while my sister was buying Honda and paying a lot more for the sake of the name and consumer reports.

One of my cars is a 2015 Dodge Dart Limited. The critics absolutely hate them. I've had zero problems with it. Also have a 2010 Honda Fit Sport. That's had way more mechanical issues. Than any of my 3 Mustangs ever did. My all time worst lemon. Was a 1996 Buick Park Avenue Ultra. Haven't bought from GM since. Been driving 40 years. Always had the best luck with Ford vehicles.

My parents had a 94 Nissan Altima and it was perfect at a 100,000. At 200,000 it started having issues especially with the electronics. At 250,000 I finally convinced them to stop throwing parts at it. It was a good car just too many electrical issues. Radio, sunroof, Windows, HVAC, cruise control.

Ya 200k is a good run. Anything over 200k on any car and you will start having issues even Toyota’s and Honda’s

Nothing lasts forever... For sure. My issue with high mileage cars (130k+) is taking them on long trips. Do you really want to be stranded in some Podunk town waiting on parts while your family vacation whithers away?
Sure, a high mileage in town commuter car is fine. I never really owned a car that was a mechanical nightmare. They all seemed to start falling apart after a 100k but nothing major. Honda reliability sucks and there fit and finish is garbage. I bought a top of the line 2014 Odyssey, about a month after owning it, I really started to notice the cheap plastics, not that they felt bad but they scratched easily and there paint was industrial grade laid down by a third grader. Plenty of Internet media discussing how Honda has the worse paint finish in the industry. It is blotchy, orange peeled and no matter how many coats if wax you lay down, it never seems to keep it's protection.
