I have about 40,000 miles on my stainless ARP downpipe studs / nuts.
Noticed the car was sounding extra spicy when cold this week. Put it on ramps, pulled the skid plate and a washer fell out. Only one of the three downpipe to turbo fasteners were there. Two nuts, one washer, and one stud are out there somewhere in the wilderness.
The stock Ford fasteners were bolts with deformed threads. There might be something to that design…
The ARP stuff seems awesome, but it isn’t so awesome if I can’t keep it from coming loose. If you have the ARP down pipe fasteners I suggest a quick tightness check during your next oil change.
I got some Inconel lock washers and put it back together with some fresh ARP nuts. We’ll see if they hang on for another 40,000+ miles or not,
Anyone else have them come loose?
