Carplay on UK ST mk7 (2013)

Hi all, has anyone managed to install Carplay into a UK ST MK7 2013? It seems the USA cars have a touch screen and a double USB input inside the glovebox between the seats which is swapped to enable carplay. I'm moving to a big city and want to have access to Carplay without putting my phone on the windscreen.

I know some people have swapped out the whole “Sync” unit and display to upgrade to “Sync 3” - might work in a UK car but I’m not sure
