It's essentially a spacer, very common in the GTi community. Fun sound, but no performance gain.

Generally the only drawback I can remember from this type of adapter is the BOV noise came on at odd times, and sound a little too Mack truck like.

All I can see that this does is dump the excess pressure before it goes into the intake pipe.
Since it uses the same control and valve as the OE it can only operate the same as the OE.
If there is any noise at odd times, it most likely was there before and just couldn't be heard.

OK,
As they say, it is easy to install.
Not too bad to get to.

Here is the OE valve in the car.

Here is the OE valve out of the car.

Here is the OE valve with the Boomba adaptor in place.

It took me about 1 hour to complete but remember that is "Geezer Time".
That should equate to about 30 minutes in "Whipper Snapper Time".

I do like it.
I will admit it does sound a little ricey.

That's OK though as I have been a little ricey myself for the last 43 years.
Not because I drive them but because I married one.

Ok, so if I combine this with the Injen Intake... Am I going to get insane amounts of noise? Or is a black hole a possibility? (I ordered a red adapter just now)

Using this BOV adaptor will have nothing to do with the brand/type of intake you have.
The excess pressure is exhausted at the valve and not into the intake pipe.

Those of you with one of these spacers and an AccessPORT or OBD logger should do a log to verify no rich condition between shifts. That will settle the argument once and for all.

Why would you assume a rich condition exists? USDM runs a MAP setup and any air redirected into the intake tract *basically* blows out the filter because it's not a pressurized area.

I keep forgetting this car runs speed density. I guess there's that.

Any concerns dropping your car off at the dealer and having that BOV noise audible to the techs?

Oh I wasn't worried about causing any kind of damage or having any issues with pressure. I was more curious about how much noise I would get with a combined setup. The black hole thing was super serious though. I don't want to end humanity all for the sake of BOV noise.

The focus guys have options. One option for 50/50 vent/air intake and one option for 100% vent.

As I stated before.
The excess pressure is exhausted at the valve and not into the intake pipe.
So there is NO way that the intake can effect blow off noise or vice versa.

In our experience, most dealerships are pretty cool about it, especially when it comes to routine maintenance such as oil changes. I believe there may only be an issue if a problem occurs that can be directly traced to an aftermarket part being installed. YMMV
