It's definitely the TB spacer. That filter looks larger than normal though. Now add a Mishimoto radiator to the mix.

The filer is longer than normal. It's from a V6 Mazda CX-7, but that wouldn't change the issue as the diameter is the same.

The TB sparer is the issue.

I don't personally think the boomba TB spacer or intake spare are worth 1/2 the trouble they are to install unless your doing some type of fuel add on like I did with 4 meth injectors.
The TB spacer was just added on when I did the intake spacer. Next time the charge pipe comes off, the TB spacer is prob getting removed.

I do enjoy the vacuum port / 1/8" npt fitting, but that's about it.

I have to remove
The hit pipe to add the BOV her soon.

Looks to me you need an oil filter relocator kit. ;)

To where? Seriously, has anyone relocated their filter and, if so, where did you put it?
I have not yet. Few options I see would be strut tower where some have the OCC, or where the mishimoto OCC is located (same rough size). Or an even easier would be straight up remove the sound symposer and in that area where the hood latches. nice plate pointing the filter upwards. hmmm might make this a winter fabrication project.

Yeah, I considered the strut tower but, as you said, that's where some of the custom fit OCCs mount and an OCC in my plan. I have removed the symposer - I'll do some fit checking with a remote filter mount that I already have this evening. I've installed an oil filter sandwich plate to pick off oil pressure/temperature and there's no way I'll be able to fit a larger radiator in front of the filter now.

If it work please help me learn from your experience. Also throw up the parts you got (mainly what is the thread for the filter, I admit lazyness), I know the sandwich plate are a dime a dozen but been lazy about this and really only swear about it every time I change the oil which is happening soon. So ordering ebay free shipping stuff would be now.

Mistumoto could prob sell y'all the parts.

I'm more interested in just fixing the parts that don't really fit, lol.

Your telling me you hand fits on that filter when the TB is removed? :p

Unfortunately Mishimoto only has the sandwich filter plate. Not hard to find just too many options when making a kit, therefore I like to build on something someone else has done to avoid the headaches/time but willing to do it. Hayden has a kit (291) just careful as it is missing the hosery. Also it has side entry for the filter plate which would be better if it was top entry to easy hose management if done at the front near the hood latch.

^^^IF any kit/pieced together option for the above were available, would we be FORCED to go to an aftermarket, oil to air, oil cooler, or would it enable us to keep the factory coolant to oil deal??

A remote filter kit with NPT ports for pressure and temp would be IDEAL though. :)

It does not change the heat exchanger. Basically you attach a cup where the filter is that has 2 hose connections which go to another plate that the filter (can be stock, bigger, dual, etc...) is attached to. You need a little more oil to cover what is in the hose.

I spent some time in the engine compartment last night. Other than on the passenger side strut tower, I don't see anywhere to mount even a small remote filter adaptor aft of the radiator. I'd really like to use a Canton canister filter but I think that I'm SOL as that's far larger than a simple remote spin-on filter adaptor.

There is some room on the frame rail under the battery and I guess that pulling the battery every 3k to get to the filter isn't too bad...

Does anyone know if the Mishimoto oil cooler adaptor is shorter or taller than the stock oil-to-water cooler?

Ya. Only place I saw last night was between the windshield water bottle and the fuse box. I'm sure there are other option under the car which would still be easier. I'm not giving up on this.

HA! And some on here were saying that it would be easy as pie to fit a 5+ stage dry sump system under the hood of these cars! LOL [nono]

Even with the battery banished to the rear well, I don't see there being room for that mod. :(
