I live in CA so I need an intake to be carb legal. Will this Cobb intake have more turbo noises vs oem airbox with drop in filter?

If you just want noise, open the bottom of the stock box... It's reaches to the bottom of the radiator so you're not pulling in hot air and the noises are belissimo, I've been quite happy with mine!

I lopped the entire bottom off with a Dremel, just the thinnest slice to make it even
You can also do this for more noise. I recall doing that back in ~2017 on my first car before I eventually ran a CPE intake. The CPE was a little louder than a cut open factory box but not by much, maybe 10-15% more noise?

you may want to be careful crossing streams and rivers, the pacific.
With our cars having that snorkel on the air box, it won't become a straw in water thankfully but always be cautious... I live in the desert so its not much of an issue, but I have survived heavy monsoons to and snow without any issues

That answers my next question since I live in normally rainy Atlanta.
