Cylinder Head Temp Sensor location.

My 2014 First is throwing a P1299 code, and my rad fan had also gone out, so I fixed the whole cooling system (thermostat, ECT Sensor, Cooling fan assembly, and checked all the fuses and coolant levels, as well as all the hoses). The only thing it could be is the cylinder head temp sensor, I just need to know where it's located.

I suggest a search, here's an example:

Leak check should confirm, pressurizing the system with a special adapter at the filler cap to 10-15psi regulated, and see if it holds. Otherwise you may keep replacing stuff. Head castings were fixed for 2015 and up I believe.

Not sure about your cylinder head temp sensor or the error code, it's not listed that I know of... but there's a nice html manual on line:

Good luck, hope it's not the 2014 overheat issue.

Yeah, when I did a diagnostic, everything but my rad fan and CHT sensor tested fine. My fan now runs and I don't have any coolant leaking issues, and I just need to know where the CHT sensor is located so that I can replace it.

I have the same problem on my 2014; my cylinder head is overheating while my coolant temp is well below or at operating temperature. I checked the coolant and changed to ECT sensor. I have a CHT sensor waiting to be installed; I afraid it's likely deep behind the cylinder head. I haven't been able to find it.

Did you end up fixing the issue?

Thanks for posting the manuals... that is interesting that pcode 1299 is not mentioned. I was wondering if he ever found that cylinder head temp sensor. I have the same issue on my Fiesta. I bought a replacement sensor, but I guess I better do a compression test first...

Sensors to check.
The coolant temp sensor is (always been) on the right rear top of the engine.
If you had the 17S09 recall done, the added coolant level sensor is behind the degas bottle.

I donā€™t have a sensor behind the degas bottle... changed the coolant temp sensor ... flushed the radiator, compression is good in all cylinders, changed the plugs, because it was time. Started it and it immediately goes to limp mode..šŸ¤”.. disconnecting the battery I might limp mode to the Ford house
