Deep scratches

Today at my job the guard gate guy, for whatever reason, accidentally closed the gate on my car as I was driving through… to make matters worse they are claiming no responsibility and refusing to send me the video proof of his mistake. I don’t have the time or money to go through a legal process with all this but if anyone has any suggestions on how to prevent rust on the deep scratches/ get it alittle prettier looking before I’m able to get it professionally fixed. I appreciate you all in advance! 😭

If the topcoat was the only layer scratched, it won't rust. From this picture, it looks like paint transfer which in my opinion is not bad to deal with. if the topcoat is in fact scratched, then it can simply be compounded and polished. if you see bare metal, definitely protect it with touch up paint for the time being until you can find someone to do paint correction.

assuming the base coat is unaffected, I should also add that deep scratches in topcoat require wet sanding, then compounding, and finally polishing. so there's that extra step if it's super deep.

Just realized the picture isn’t that great but there is a long deep scratch about 1/4 in deep to the right side of the weather stripping. Heard people say you can use clear nail polish temporarily but I think I will use touch up paint with maybe a wax filler.

Go after the company. They are responsible for the guard's actions and their insurance should pay for this. Don't give up!

oh yeah i see it now. im fairly certain what you're seeing is the primer (or possibly the sealer) coat, so the metal should still be coated and have a low probabilty of rusting. i'd still coat the primer using a paint pen regardless and finish it off with top coat otherwise the base coat will flake off over time
