Can you verify that your steering wheel locks?
There is a poll choice above.
I don't know whether the key fob needs to be in a Faraday bag or away from the vehicle.

If you're curious why I'm asking:
Haven't been able to get mine to lock.
(driver wheel was hit and forced hard-right while parked)

Thanks.

Just tried mine and I can't get it to lock. Even unlocked the car and put the key in the house and it wouldn't lock.

I don't believe there is a lock for the steering wheel. I push mine around in the garage all the time with no key. Just put the shifter in neutral, release the parking brake and roll it around.

Interesting. Since steering wheel lock was originally considered a security feature, does it make any difference if you leave the passenger door open, lock it using the remote or dash (enabling "PATS" aka the anti-theft system) and come back on a 15~20 minute delay with no remote or remote in Faraday bag? I've noted that it takes 15 minutes for the power windows and other systems to go offline.

Let's see what simulated intelligence has to say... (keeping in mind that it'll readily make stuff up and refuse to admit it until challenged on it)

Going to need to test this as it has me curious now. There has been many times the car has been in the garage for a week or more, driver side window down, no key fob in sight. I just reach through the open window without opening the door, car is already in neutral, undo the parking break and push the car around. Not once have I ever encountered the steering being locked.

I've sat in my car for several minutes to hours without the key and never had the wheel lock on me. And I also push my car around, again no key, and never had it lock

Thanks for the continued input y'all. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I think the key point here, is that the vehicle's security must be engaged before we can accurately account for whether the lock function is present in our vehicles.

Security may be fully active:
* doors locked
* fifteen minute delay

In the honor of many dead cats that were curious, I did a little test. Parked the car in the garage and rolled the driver side window down about 8". Parking brake on, vehicle in neutral. Locked vehicle and verified with a double tap on the key fob lock button for a confirmation honk. Waited about two hours. Left the key fob in the house about 30' away. Reached into the window with car still locked and attempted to turn the steering wheel. Was able to go stop to stop in both directions from straight with no resistance by any type of locking mechanism. Mine is a 2016 purchased new in Feb of 2016. Maybe the later models have some sort of lock but I can verify mine does not.

Excellent. Thank you @RNOVRIT and others.
This is interesting. Not asking anyone to test the non-ST vehicles with automatic transmissions, but wonder if this is unique to manual shift vehicles?
Funny how AI just makes stuff up. Do we have time to change next year's Feb 16th holiday to "AI's day"? ๐Ÿ˜…

Welcome. I wonder if it is only ST models due to the push button start. The non ST models use a physical key in the column that could use a standard style mechanical lock for the steering. Just a thought.

I had a 2012 5-speed Fiesta can confirm steering wheel does not lock
