Driving lights/license plate mod?

I was thinking of removing the front license plate bracket and using the holes in the bumper to mount a pair of old school round Hella lights. Has anyone tried this?

Sounds neat. Lots of folks have lights in their grilles, one or two have them on their roof racks. Haven't seen any yet with bumper mounted lights. I for one was thinking of putting some LED lights in the rear bumper to aid in backing up at night...
