I bit unsettling that they know where my car is sorta... As I am not in that area but my car is..
I think that is generic unless you let then use the location of your computer, not your car.

This recall was just announced on the 23rd.
It maybe possible that the system has not populated all the VINs yet.

But the weird thing is all the "local" dealers shown on their little map weird local to Detroit... I bit unsettling that they know where my car is sorta... As I am not in that area but my car is..
If you've registered your vehicle on the Ford owners site and are equipped with NAV system the internal GPS tracking identifies and reports where your car is currently positioned ...

HAL is watching....

That may be true.
However I get the same Detroit dealers.
With a line on the bottom of my screen that allows them to track your position.

That's OK.
The government knows where you are as long as your Cell is on.
So as in "1984" Big Brother is watching.

Its true for me...I get dealers located the Palm Springs, CA area....

And anytime you update your system your location is also identified within the "system"....

Also if you enable 911 feature and are in an accident with airbag deployed I believed they automatically can pinpoint your location via GPS to send help if needed...

Indeed... Big Brother and HAL are watching....

That may be because of your computer settings.
I do NOT allow websites to track my location.

I too have the 911 feature turned on in the car but it requires your phone as your car can NOT make calls without it.
That is a feature of GM's On-Star system that you pay extra for the cell connection.

If that were true then mine should have come up local as well.
But I get the Detroit area on my computer.

I am not sure if your car can be tracked when it is off.
If so companies like Lo-Jack would be out of business.

Another possibility is that you used your phone to go to the Ford/user site.

Perhaps one of the "usual suspects" vendors on this site could build an aftermarket high performance door latch spring.... Lightweight and improved (door) handle-ing....;)
