did you read the fix , they are planning on installing tubes that drain away the leaking gas πŸ˜‚ This is kinda disturbing as it seems like a cop out to a serious issue. Hello Ford you seem to be losing the plot.

"Ford plans to have its dealers install a tube to let leaking gasoline flow away from hot surfaces to the ground below the vehicle, the automaker told federal safety administrators.

The dealers also will update engine control software that will detect if pressure drops in the fuel injection system. If that occurs, the software will disable the high-pressure fuel pump, reduce engine power and cut temperatures in the engine compartment, according to documents filed with NHTSA."

Well, that's a fix...

Ya this is comical. It really makes me question anything Ford sells as far as safety goes. This reminds me of the infamous Pinto.

in the bronco sport and escape
But I don't buy trucks and SUVs. As long as I'm not parked too close to one, meh. 😎
(re safety, this not go boom... plenty of time to get out and buy some marshmallows for the ensuing inferno...)

Is it the same 3 pot 1.5 liter in our current Bronco Sport and Escape as in the Mk8 FiST, or is it the older, 4 cylinder, 1.5 liter version in the last gen Escape Titanium??

This recall is to enable the ECM to identify the issue and safely deal with it until it is repaired IF you have the affected injectors. The NHTSA approves recalls prior to them being issued. The issue is some injectors fail not all. This prevents a fire and allows the ECM to ID the cars with the bad injector so repairs can be done. Remember we don't have all the data NHTSA has but if they say this will address the issue safely it's good with me, our cars would not be as safe as they are today without them.
