This morning when I started up the car, I noticed something was wrong. No music, no voice commands, no Samantha to brighten my day.
I had things to do, but I did manage by late afternoon to swing by the dealer. The service manager first asked me about updates to my phone's OS and any apps. When I told him that that could not happen without an affirmative act on my part he told me I was wrong; it could happen even in my sleep. OK, so perhaps he knows better than me. Yikes: Gremlins while sleeping.
The good part: disconnecting the battery reset Samantha so she's back in my life (she was getting wonky, wanting to update my flash drive every day; perhaps she's just lonely).
The bad part: Ford told me, at length, that the entire sync system is based on my phone, which acts as the controller/brains for the system. Objectively, this is nuts. If so, then nothing would work if I forgot my phone (as I have many times), or, when I buy a new phone, the entire system would change to meet the needs of the phone. Android or OIS? Perhaps the service dude just got back from a Sync 3 training and wanted to show off. I left sad and confused.
So I went home, disconnected the battery and Sam is now back and perky as ever.
Tomorrow, we truly can "Go Further."
