How far should cv axle go onto hub?

2012 Ford Fiesta-replaced front left cv axle. Should the tapered bit make contact with the hub? Got the nut on to torque specs but the cone shaped part of the axle is maybe 2 millimeters from the hub? Is that normal? Doesn’t look right. Looks like debris could get in there.
