FWIW. I agree about the over complexity of it all!
There should be fairly simple quality grading system that could provide the information we need.
The API should start it by explaining clearly what the pecentage split of semi synthetic oil is! Irs all very murky. End rant.

^^^They would then need to explain WHAT exactly entails being labeled a "synthetic oil" in THIS country, as that is even murkier yet.

I kind of wish that they could set the bar like the Euros/ACEA, and definitively state that the base stocks MUST BE a majority group 4 or group 5, or mix thereof in order to be called a FULL Synthetic, and NOT merely a group 3/3+/Visom/GTL base stock, like they are here (as good as those base stocks may be).
