Picking up a new set of 15x8 +35 wheels. I’m currently on Tarmacs and it’s brutal for Wisconsin roads. Just need some insight on size to go with. Will a 205 50 be good? Or should I look into 225 45? Lowered on ISC coils. Just a back road daily driver, no track.

I'm running 205/50 and it's awesome. Lowered, no rub at full lock or compression at speed. Much more comfy than stock.

Glad to hear that, ton of options in that size. Thank you!

I would suggest a 225/50-15, except that they do not exist outside of 200 tread wear gummies. [:(]
(Edit; with the one exception of the 400 tread wear, Kumho ECSTA AST HP all seasons, which are only H-rated.)

But, if I were ever to get a set of summer use KE Motorsports, or TD Pro Race 1.2s in15x8, a set of those stickies would be going on them. [wink]

Just picked them up last night off marketplace. He was only a hour drive. Dude was asking $750, ended up getting them brand new in box for $600. Satin black.

IF they ever release them in the 17x7.5/8 size, I would get the satin black or gold to go on a Magnetic FiST. [thumb]

225/45R15's are the perfect size. The 205/50R15's in nearly every manufacturer flavor - 100tw, 200tw and 300+tw all state max limit to the tire is a 7.5" wide wheel. I know people stretch them onto 8" wheels all the time but id rather listen to the manufacturer's of the tire on this one.

With that, Hankook RS4's are about the most streetable 200tw around. They wear like iron and have plenty of grip in the wet. That would be my go-to tire choice for long wearing and street friendly sticky tire.

For winter, just dont. Swap on some steel wheels + winter tires. Save the KE Pro's and gumballs for the spring/summer/fall months.

^^^Yes, I wish that they made the RS4s in a 215/45-16, and 215/40-17, as I like them even more than the other 'go-to streetable' choice around here, the 615K plusses.

The Hankooks? They are dead quiet. Probably the quietest 200tw tire ive ever run.

The loudest tire ive ever run is the Federal RS-RR in 205/50R15. Things sound like mudders going down the highway. Just a highway groan at all speeds and only gets louder as you go faster.

^^^THIS!
The RS-RRs start 'singing' at 20 MPH, and gradually increase in volume to a full banshee wail at highway speeds.

But, fairly grippy (at least on the streets) for a tire that inexpensive.

For a back road car a 205 tire will perform better handling wise than a 225 wide tire. But for daily driver duties I would recommend a 225 wide. The good thing is both sizes in 15" have LOADS of options. I would recommend the RS4 as mentioned previously really good longevity for a 200tw and good grip.
