Need help with some tyre information SORRY AHEAD OF TIME!!

Sorry ahead of time, but I just needed help with some quick calculations. I just ordered a set of xxr 527's, the 17x8.25, unfortunately they did not have the 4x108, only the 4x100/4x114.3 at 25 ET. Before my dumbass could think about it, I didn't take into consideration that I would need a 4x108 (rim) to 4x100 (wheel) adapter, which we all know is an inch thick. Is there anything I have to worry about if Im running 205/40/17s on these rims?

I know everyone hates tire/rim questions lol, but thanks anyways!!

8.25" wide wheel? That is out of range for a 205mm wide tire. Are you sure this wide of a wheel is going to fit when you add the required spacer adapter? I assume you did a layout of the hub location to factory wheel inner and outer positions and then checked that against the new wheels with adapter? Is the car lowered at all?

The tire will end up being stretched, but it wont be a crazy stretch, the rim is made to accommodate a slight stretch from what I read. The car is not lowered, the stock measurement from the stock ST wheels are 17x7 at 47.5mm, since there is about an inch for the tires to be flush with the fender, i assumed that the new xxr's with a 25mm offset and an extra inch from the adapter would allow the wheels to be fine, but i just wanted some clarification. Im not too positive if my math is correct.

never mind the stretch, those wheels will stick out quite a bit unless that's what you're going for.

IMO, you are better just returning them or do an exchange of rims for a 4x108, they way you are thinking about fixing it is just a pain

If your new wheel specs are 17x8.25 +25 and you're adding an inch spacer with that adapter, they'll be about 2.5 inches further out from the stock wheel. Good luck.

If that's what too wide of rim for tire is called yes.

I am no suspension expert by any means but I have been warned about changing offset and/or rim width before because of the difference it can make to the scrub radius. Too much change can cause all sorts of problems to the steering like serve kick-back, tramlining, wandering under hard braking and maybe other stuff too.
How much is too much?, I don't know.
