new fiesta owner looking for help

howdy folks,
Like the title says new fiesta enthusiast here! loving this car so much i went ham upgrading it. Now also thinking that doing all this work to a stock 1.6 with 150k miles is not such a good idea.....
so this thread id love to here you guys discuss building a motor with me ( a Novus mechanic ). anyone know how i start the process... where I can buy a reinforced head? basically a discussion of the whole process i think would be really cool i will be turning to this thread to help and looking into all your suggestions.

These are stout little engines that can reliably handle a lot even with higher mileage. Do you have big goals or just interested as a precaution or fun project? If you haven't done the timing belt yet that needs to be first on your list at that mileage though.

Rods, pistons and bearings are pretty stout. Where this little engine faulters most often is cylinder liners warping, causing headgasket failure.It could result in cracked liners as well. I know from experience unfortunately.

Most people build the engine with forged rods and pistons, me included. A good set of rod and and crank bearings and a stock head. Added with the litte metal slits to put between the cylinders at their weakest point and you should be good for at least 280hp wheel.
