tried posting at the other fiesta st forum which basically sucks in terms of activity. 200 views with zero responses, so I'm just gonna bring the idea here.

after being stuck in an ice storm and not being able to make it up a slight incline due to summer tires, I realized quickly that we don't have a tow hook/strap like the euro models. So after spending a grand at tirerack for new wheels and tires, I did some research for tow options. not wanting to drill or weld if I don't have to, I had a thought.

could I buy a recovery strap, cut it, and get some of these 3 bar slides for racing harnesses and then loop around the front bumper and secure it in place? I'd think you could feed the loop through the grill, wrap the other end around the crash bumper like a harness, then cut the excess.

or if it's possible to just wrap the non-loop end around the crash bar then rivet or hand sew it together? Am I missing something completely obvious here in terms of safety/reliability/etc?

I'm no authority here but I woul be cautious about tethering off of the crash bar. Also be careful about threading the grill as the "tow strap" will move from side to side and might break the plastic. One last thought, check the load ratings of the hardware and belts (although my guess is they would hold regardless of if they are rated to). It's a good idea, I would just look to tether of of something more substantial and have your "hard tether" location protrude from any fascia so so you don't damage them.

I just spent the hundred bucks and got the pierce motorsport kit. Whether I keep the solid hook is yet to be determined.
