Thought i would do something different than powdercoat my oem grey Rado wheels. I am picking them up from the blasters today, then off to the polisher. FYI the blaster said there were at least five coats on the stockers. He said epoxy primer, some other type of primer, 2 coats paint and clear. Very stubborn to get off. The factory finish is very durable. I'll post some picks of the raw cast wheels when I pick them up.

Here are some pics fresh from the blasters. I actually really like the way they turned out and now am hum and hawing about actually getting them polished. Polishing would help with some oxidization and brake dust issues. Blaster used walnut to the metal and then a quick final with glass beads which left a satin finish. He says he did this because the glass bead finish would be easier to polish out.

The pictures seem really blue, I'll try for some better ones later.

Without getting them polish they look too much like the stock silver wheels.

They do look a little like the other oems. I am still waiting on some quotes for polishing, but might tackle it myself if deemed extraordinarily expensive. We have about 4 places fairly local to me that have purpose built polishing machines.

In for results. I'm a shiny wheel fan too. They should been pretty easy to maintain too. Some tinted clear would be awesome over the polished wheel though!

I am still working on these guys. Polishing is definetly not cheap to have someone do so I decided to take it on myself. Now I have realized nor is it easy. Lots and lots of sanding!

After a few hours of machine sanding & hand sanding, I have sadly decided I do not have the time or patience to complete a set of wheels. It is a very tiresome project (pun intended) and since my wife also has a Fiesta she is going to pic a powder color and I am going to find myself a new set of wheels. Sorry to disappoint guys.

It happens man you gave it a good try! My friend back in the day polished some civic HX wheels he got for his 99 SI, those were only 15's and still took him afew weeks.

Best bet is to pay a pro to do it, Kens polishing here in Phoenix does amazing work at great prices. It is labor intensive but its not crazy in cost.

Some quotes I got were $250 - $450 per wheel. For that price I could buy some pretty nice wheels, thats why I gave it a go.
