Tip for drilling rivets - use a large bit and essentially drill the front of the rivet off rather than a small bit and drilling all the way through the center.

They do need to be drilled. As Alex posted just drill the front of the rivet off and push the rest out the back of the bumper cover. Not hard, and the bumperplugs look great.

this must be a region thing huh? I see these kind of posts, and the plugs listed on websites, but my fiesta didn't come with anything on the front, just smooth bumper. I guess since we live in SC where dual plates arnt needed my car came differently then a state needing dual tags

Ya it's supposed to be. Here in Texas all cars are supposed to have a front plate but many new car brands (BMW, Audi, Mercedes...) often leave the dealer with zero provision to mount a front plate.

This was a small part of the reason I wanted to ORDER this car from a Pennsy dealer (albeit giving up a BIG discount ), since YES, the front bumpers are adapted at the factory according to their destination states' (or provinces' for the northland) laws, and whether or not they require a front plate to be legal.

I did the ol' front plate delete yesterday with paint matched plugs from bumperplugs.com and I think it really changes the look of the front end. It may be frowned upon in my state but I never had issues with my last car. I live in the Baltimore area and I feel the police have larger things to worry about than the front plate on my Fiesta.

Ah, and she's salty salty from this weekend's snow.

Don't go near Frederick. When I lived out there I took mine off on my old zx3 and got pulled over in less than a month with it off.

I don't go out there too often, mostly just keep between Columbia and Baltimore and drive in rush hour traffic mostly. I feel with these economy hatchbacks unless you're doing something especially dumb, you're relatively invisible to the police.

I will say this, you can see very very slight little pin holes where you can tell they should be, not enough to notice though, I guess they are more like indents, no actual hole, at least that's what I always assumed they were for

Yeah, I only notice them due to the Collinite 845 filling them in during waxing, and drying white, until I gently take a wooden toothpick to the indents to get it out,

What you see in that picture is about... 50% of what we get here at the max, and the AS3s are perfectly adequate. You just have to be gentle with the throttle.

Blizzaks are better at digging yourself out of thick snow, but once you start rolling, there's not much difference (my opinion).

Thanks , good to know since I have never had mine out in any actual snow accumulation much over 1.5", or in slush deeper than ~0.5" in the year+ I've had them.
