I was recently in contact with Scott over at Str?mung about doing an exhaust for our FiST. He is very interested and asked me to put up an interest thread for one. From my experience, these exhausts are very throaty and deep so there shouldn't be a problem with drone, but I'll make sure he is aware of it anyway.

I know the community is all over the place as far as what we want from an exhaust. I'll be pushing for a modular design, similar to what was discussed in the Tomei thread. But typically these exhausts are dual tip anyway, so maybe an option with and without resonator.

If you prefer 2.5 or 3 inch piping let me know. But maybe we can split it up the middle at 2.75? Let me know below, and I'll pass it on.

Here is a video of a Fiat they did.

Here's a Web site full of them. It's not Joe's muffler shop if that's what you're worried about.

Every exhaust is going to be different and can be made to whatever we want it to be.

Given that there isn't much to be found in the way of power gains in an exhaust for our cars and we've got all sorts of options at the moment, I'd turn the question around on him - what can you do that's different? I mean, we can choose from 2.25" -> 3", aluminized steel and two different stainless alloys, with or without a resonator, different tip options, different tones, etc., the only real difference on a stock turbo car is the sound and, maybe, a couple of pounds gained or lost. A Ti exhaust might be interesting due to the weight loss (but the most benign place for an "extra" 5 pounds of weight is in the exhaust). An exhaust that shows some real gains would be nice, but that doesn't seem to be a weak point on our car unless you go big turbo. But, if he's offering a high quality, nice sounding stainless exhaust in 2.5 or 3 at $500 -> $700, he's entering a pretty well-served market.

Stainless at ~ $350 would be a differentiator as would turbo back at ~ $700.

... that Fiat video made me LOL.

If they're going to post a video demonstrating their exhaust, don't layer it over with music... I would think that's pretty much common sense.

They make a good exhaust but I agree with jeffreylyon. Unless they can make something extraordinary for our cars I don't know if it would be worth it for them to do the R&D. However it is always nice to see another option.

Stromung has been around for many, many years. Mostly found on European vehicles. Huge in the old school BMW communities.
