This is a new occurrence as far as I know, or I might have just started noticing it with all the windows-down driving.

At any rate, I've got a tambourine-like jingle/buzz coming from the engine compartment. It happens between 2400-2700 RPMs and doesn't change regardless of gear or clutch in/out. I began hearing it with the windows down and driving by objects which reflected the sound back to my ears. It's not easily heard topside, but is from beneath or to the sides of the car. I can replicate it by simply holding the revs at the indicated range at a standstill.

Ideas? Experience?

I've done that fairly methodically. The last thing to check is the intercooler and its mounts. It really doesn't sound like it's coming from that area though. I'll be honest after loads of reading and research; I'm gonna give her an oil change and see if things change. If so, I'm possibly looking at bearings...and I really hope that isn't it.

In my signature. I've checked everything that I've added for loose fasteners, etc.

Many people use Tapatalk and can't see signatures.

I would check the heat-sheilding and exhaust for interference.

I hadn't considered that. Here they are:

Cobb RMM
Cobb AP3, Stage 2 93 octane v201(for now)
Cobb Intake
Boomba SS delete
15% Tint
Panda FMIC, Treadstone TR6
Panda Stage 2 protune(on the way)
Sparco Assetto Garas 17x7 Orange
ASD Pedal Spacer
Perrin Super Shorty

I've considered a bad catalytic converter as well...

But have you checked the nuts and bolts for the Panda FMIC? It's a pain to pull the bumper off, so it would be the last thing on my mind. Stick a long screw driver or stick in and poke at them. It sounds like a bunch of washers jingling around.

That's exactly what I compare the sound to. I'll triple check them, and loctite them if needed.

...and I should have done that BEFORE posting. They're tight as drums. Besides, it only happens after the engine is warmed up.

Since it only does it at that RPM I really want to think it's something loose. That RPM (frequency) is where it happens to vibrate, but then...it only happens when warm.

Dyn, has an awesome idea, though. Check your heat shields; metal expands as it gets warm. Maybe they're just too close...?

You didn't adjust your wastegate by chance, did you?

My first thought is (and has been) resonance. I just couldn't wrap my head around its dependence on the engine being warm. I read about a bad batch of catalytic converters on I believe a Ford Ranger forum. Makes me wonder...

No, I haven't adjusted the wastegate. Matter of fact, I haven't a clue how to :)

Did you check all your pulleys for your drive belt? Could have one that's backed out a hair, and the washer is jingling around.

That's a thought. I'll check them out, though the sounds seems to come from the drivers' side.

Any luck of having someone hold the throttle at the RPM while you listen for the problem under the hood? That helps tremendously.

Absolutely. That's how I tracked the sound to[seemingly] bottom, and it seems skewed toward the drivers side.

Have you had a chance to swing past your dealer? Please let me know, along with your year and mileage, and I'll check out some options.
