You’ve got a few recommendations. The Generals are actually very highly reviewed on tire rack, per tire rack they actually are better than the BFGs that were mentioned.

I’ll stick with AS/3+ until somebody convinces me otherwise.

Ok, serious reply. I’m comparing the General G-MAX AS-05 to a summer tire. Yes, you read that correctly. I know you aren’t interested in summer tires and that isn’t the point of this, it’s to show how, relatively, close these perform compared to summer rubber. Granted you aren’t getting that extra x% that you would from a summer tire, but if there were an AS tire to convince me to come down from my high horse this would be it.

This will be the FiST community’s perennial favorite the Firestone Firehawk, vs the General G-MAX AS-05

Let’s look at slalom times:

Firestone

General

And in the wet

Firestone

General

Dry Lap times:

Firestone

General

Wet lap times

Firestone

General

So you give up a bit, but not a significant chunk. Also, the BFGs are in that AS comparison so you can look at those two against each other.

These people have a LOT of experience with tires, and instead of anecdotal evidence I’m giving you hard numbers. Comparatively, I’d say his info is more valuable than what anyone is willing to vouch for.

Also, shocking even to me, is that the General consistently outperforms the Firestone in the wet.

I have run AS/3’s and AS/3+’s. The + is better imo and they perform in all weather. Btw no snow tire bs
I have the AS3+ as the car is my daily and I wanted something that lasts a bit longer than summers and can still hang in the canyons somewhat.

For an AS I'd say I'm definitely impressed with how you can push them and the grip in the rain is great compared to the stock potenzas. Definitely worth the money but you are paying for the Michelin premium.

Thank you for that 3 feet of information but if anyone has run HP AS tires I’d love to hear from them 😂

I mean you could just read the data...

But hey, if you’d rather have people tell you what they “feel” instead of looking at measured and comparable numbers, by all means be my guest.
So I can actually get what I wanted out of this thread? YOU are a generous fellow
