Tial Waste Gate actuator

What is the proper way to test a tial waste gate actuator? I know how to set pre load. Does that setting also effect what PSI the actuator opens? I would not think it does, but I am not sure. Do you pump air in to it with a gauge?

Yes I always use air with a pressure regulated inflator on the compressor to set my pre load. Unless you change the spring, you can’t change the pressure it takes to move the diaphragm, but you can increase/decrease preload which will impact the amount of boost needed to open the actual IWG inside the turbo.
