What is the proper coolant level?

While the engine is cold, where should the coolant level sit? Min or max?

It states, Between the MAX and MIN lines.

I just ensure coolant is at the mid point in the reservoir (when cold)

Hypothetically speaking, would any damage occur if the degas bottle were filled to the max line while the engine is cold?
