What is this on 2016s?

I was at the dealer today having routine service done and I noticed this on both rear doors of a 2016 FIST on the showroom floor......any idea what this is for?....my 2014 doesnt have them..

I was thinking that also. I wasn't aware of the recall for certain Fiestas.

Correct, it's to improve rear occupant side impact protection. Crash standards aren't getting any easier as time moves on.
