Name: Kim

Location: Redmond, WA

Car interests: Lapping days with local car clubs (been to Portland and Pacific Raceways many times; the Ridge and ORP are on the radar for visits in the coming year or so)

Car mechanical skills: Virtually none. I can swap wheels at the track, throw on chains, pay attention to pressures/temps/fluid levels, and such, but no real background in auto care whatsoever.

Other interests: Gardening, BBQ, jogging, photography, scotch, root beer floats, pugs.

What I do: Update: During the past year, I've been gone from living off my exit package (The Borg laid me off after 25 years, LOL) to now contract writing/editing. The truth is I'm happier now being away from the machinations of my former employer.

Comment: If you do not have a Fiesta ST, but are interested in these cars, feel free to join in here as well. I found it troubling that the ST folks were segmented from the other Fiesta owners by these forums. I understand, but it was more interesting when all the Focus folks were assembled in one place on Focaljet. That forum has lost a lot of steam following the segmentation. I think it hurts Fiestafaction.com as well. Let's build a welcoming community!

Car mechanical skills: I like to tinker but I'm new at it. Slowly building my basic tool collection (going to regret this, currently living in an apartment). My best friend is a mechanical and techie genius, so if it's anything too involving, I usually do it at his place (also in Auburn, although Lakeland Hills and I'm almost in Kent).

Other interests: Movies / video games, cycling, traveling, spending time with my wife, computer stuff

What I do: Tech support for a small hardware company based out of Palo Alto / Stockholm - work from home.

Car Interests: Lapping days, modding cars, canyon driving-type road trips to N. CA (I have them all mapped out and ranked)

Car Mechanical Skills: Pretty good FI experience with Turbos and SC's. A couple cars back, I built an AMS stage IV Evo 8 with about 500HP for the track. Blew it up on a dyno. I'm not going to do anything to my FiST that will affect the warranty. I've been building cars since the 70's (yes, I am an old guy)

Other interests: Boating, skiing, travel, cooking, happy hour with friends, raising kids

What I do: Retired tech

My Car: 2015 PB w/ Recaros & Rado. Added; Koni Sports, TD ProRace 17x8 et48, 215/40 Advan AD08R, TD ProRace 15x8 et35, 225/50 Toyo R888, H&R camber bolts, Porterfield R4 pads, Torque RT700 fluid, DIY brake ducts from the other forum , shifter extension, OMP pedal set and spacer. May add; larger radiator, larger FMIC & who knows what else.

Well, since I started this thread, let me say this:

Welcome to Ratchetmonkey88, Chris, Chris, Eric, Alec, and Austen.

Days are getting a little longer with some better frequency for dry weather.

There will be some options for opportunistic get togethers (adjacent to other events) or having independent G2Gs. I'll start a different thread to list some potential options. I'm not much for social planning -- just a heads up.

Interests: Classic & Performance cars, Astronomy, Photography & astro-photography, Formula One racing (since the early 60's). I have lost count of how many cars I have owned, but they include (2) Austin Healy Sprites, a Triumph TR4, an MGB, '04 Mustang Cobra, and a huge assortment of mom & pop transportation.

What I do: Currently out of retirement (divorced) as an auditor for the parking company at the airport Yeh, I'm an old guy!

Mechanical skills: Very limited.

I bought my ST in May 2014, after driving a basic Fiesta SE for 2 1/2 years. Previously my daily driver for 6 years was the 04 Cobra.......fast and fun but it was startng to become a money pit. Since the ST is my only car, I have kept it bone stock, and have not ventured on the track.....and probably won't until the warranty expires. I hate to admit it, but I can see a Focus RS, or maybe better, a Fiesta RS (come on Ford) in my future. I am not an aggressive driver, but I do give in to an occasional on-ramp grand prix.

Welcome Barry. The Fiesta ST community in the PNW is comparatively small, not very concentrated, not excessively social, but there are a couple folks down there in the Portland area. You should take your car out to a PIR track day this summer. It's a very safe, easy track to drive and hoot in the Fiesta ST. I'll be back in Sept. for the Lotus day in front of the all-British event and the SOVERN race weekend.

Hey, thank you for the info and the links. I will check them out. I go to races at PIR all the time, and I have a buddy with a Z06 Corvette. I have taken some laps with him at various club track days. I haven't taken the ST or my former '04 Cobra (Mustang) out there......both cars were and are my only car, and I couldn't risk losing the warranty or, parish the thought, an accident.....not to mention the additional wear on the brakes and tires. It does look like great fun though. Maybe at some point I will get myself a mom & pop daily driver, so I can have some fun with the ST. I should probably do some autocross first. It is a quick little bugger......especially in 2nd & third gear on full boost. The Cobra was fast, but I wouldn't want to compete with an ST on a short track.

No worries. Yes, autocross is potentially less stressful and certainly less expensive overall. But, you should not worry about the safety. PIR is a VERY easy track -- far safer than hooning around in the mountains. If you are out there with a good novice group, you'll get expert instruction and there won't be as much pressure to go fast. It's about building speed. I strongly recommend against tracking the car in the wet though, unless you are really prepped. For one, it's generally like driving on the streets in traffic on a rainy day. Slow. Plus, the possibility for an off goes way, way up.

No problem.......I wouldn't think of hitting the track in the wet. Ayrton Senna I'm not. Referring to my comment about the ST & Cobra. Years ago at PIR, I saw an (original) Mini Cooper give a 375hp '67 Corvette all it could handle and then some. The Corvette would blast by it down the front straight, but the Mini always came back around in the lead......only to be passed again on the straight.
