SYNC Update Surprise

After updating to 3.8 I was surprised to find that it actually recognizes my USB drive (instead of telling me that the drive doesn't work while simultaneously playing the music), but, moreover, plays songs on albums in the order in which they were meant to be played. Until now it played albums, but the songs alphabetically by the first word in the title. Worked OK for some, with some weirdness, but try listening to Abbey Road that way. Now: no prob. Actual progress (even though Ford has no mention of this in the update description). Could be an accident, but works for me.

This update has been wonderful for me. All the connection issues I had in the past are gone - it's like a whole new system. Before, my flash drive wouldn't always show up or read correctly. In the past if the bluetooth on my phone wasn't already on when I started the car it would refuse to connect for at least 5 minutes, now it doesn't care when I turn on the bluetooth - it connects instantaneously. I'm really happy with it.

Mine addressed the text to speak SMS feature.
OK, now I may have to do this update.

Mine did all that other stuff before.
I can send a text through Sync but I need to start the command on the phone, so I set up a macro.
One button on the phone then everything else via Sync.

Hi D1JL & zxtost,

You won't lose anything. You'll only regret that you didn't do the update. :)

There may be some bug fixes but I see absolutely NO difference in regular operation.
Sync still works as perfectly as it did before.

The only complaints that I have now that I never had before are:
It verbally tells me it is connecting my phone every time I start the car.
Also since I choose to have 911 assist turned off I am verbally reminded of this and I must press the screen to close the window.

So yes, I regret that I did the update.

Indeed it should, but then we ARE talking about Microsoft... *rimshot*
That is correct because we are NOT talking about an (I)nferior phone. lol

I can confirm that after the update you don't have to touch your phone at all to compose and send texts.

On my phone that command is not available via Bluetooth.
Therefore the initial messaging command is done by the phone only.
However it all plays back through Sync.

I have been told that this feature will be available when my phone updates to Windows 10.

Windows Phone 8.1 works great with Sync. I'm on the Windows 10 Mobile tech preview, and it has a couple hiccups. But then, it is a tech preview

I always have my iPhone connected via USB, it used to stop playing randomly, thus far after the update, I haven't had the same issues.

How is the update done and how do you know if it has already been performed?

Just go turn the 911 reminder off again in the menu and it will stop doing both. Mine defaulted to on again after the update.
