Lower grill opening

Here is a few pics of the lower grill removed, it does attatch to the vertical slats. I removed the outer ones in the second pic. The last one is looking up from the ground. I plan on trimming the bumper cover back as far as I can, nobody can see it unless they are laying on the ground. Next find a way to channel the air up towards top of IC. The slats will leave "nubs" on the bottom and top, Top ones nobody sees anyway. I will tape off and sand the bottom ones and then taking a page from an Aussie I will plasti dip the lower half of the air dam for consistency, as opposed to buying touch up paint for the "nubs". The Aussie pics was pretty sweet, he also had a black lower splitter but unitl then I will just deal with it.

I used my dremel when removing my slats. Blasted the nubs right off. Then used some touch up paint from my work van to make the spots white. If you aren't looking for it you wouldn't even notice I cut the slats out so crudely. I plan to eventually fill the small gaps with body filler and then use touch up paint to match. I might get the car wrapped eventually so I may not do it at all. Here's what mine looks like.

Yeah that looks good, I have the Molten Orange that I heard was expensive touch up paint. So I will see, what attatchment did you use on the Dremel?

I feel the same way, but it's probably just the angle.

I am pretty sure that bird loses to IC. Rocks and pebbles are at a much Higher probablity of hitting your IC, as they do probably everyday.

I will post my mod to front bumper later this week for all aftermarket ICs not just 2j-r as some have Mishi, DHM etc. Just trying to keep it fresh, no hate.

Might be the angle. Might be off a 1/4 inch. I don't even care lol

Yup, it just clips back on. Totally easy to do without anything on the car being apart. The only caveat being if you have a non stock IC and the size of it will interfere with where the grille sits or be in the way of the clips.

Is there a significant benefit to trimming the lower grill when installing an aftermarket intercooler besides ensuring nothing is rubbing? Did someone notice a pretty big change in charge temps before and after or is this mostly just for aesthetics?
