Next generation Azenis tire is coming soon!

Grassroots Motorsports has done an evaluation I believe (due out soon) , and rumor is they are fairly close to RE71R performance.

Launch Schedule (US availability; quote from TR rep on Miata.net):

We have the most recent news on the Falken Azenis RT660 launch schedule.
The normal disclaimer: this is still tentative and anything can happen between now and then. Tires are not yet on the water, and we don't even have enough information to build TR part numbers or take preorders. Plan accordingly.
That being said, here is the plan, as of 1/17/2020.

The below sizes are expected to arrive mid-late March (Popular ND Miata sizes in bold):
195/60R14
205/50R15
225/45R15
205/40R16
215/45R16
225/50R16
225/45R17
255/40R17
245/40R17

245/40R18

The below sizes are expected mid April to early May:
245/40R15
215/45R17
205/40R17
215/40R17

235/45R17
235/40R17
245/45R17
225/40R18
235/40R18
255/35R18

Yep. They are supposed to be the Spec Tire for the FRS/BRZ/86 spec Autocross class.

I would consider those 215/40-17s as replacements for my RS-RRs on the 17x8 1.2s, IF they have a W-I-D-E actual TREAD width, unlike the 615 pluses in that size. [wink]

It's a shame that all of these companies just flat out REFUSE to produce a 225/40-17. [:(]

Was thinking the same thing about the 225's. Atleast 215 is an upgrade from the 205's the car comes with. Interested to see how the tires actually perform.

Dunlop created that tread pattern long before Bridgestone, but ya, I would have liked to see something new. I dont use them too often, but I LOVE the look of the RT615's.

After reading the comparison, I got very interested…until I went to tire rack and saw they do not offer a 16in size yet. Too bad… they are very competitively priced too. Cheaper than the RE-71R’s.

I guess I will be checking back in later when the have the 16in sizes available.

I'm currently running 225/45r15 Rival S 1.5s- I'd be interested to see if the 245/40r15 is possible. I just don't know if there is enough clearance. The 245s are actually a touch smaller in overall diameter.

Falken should post up all of the specs for the sizes they currently have available, especially the tread WIDTHS for these! [wink]
(Tire Rack did not have any specs on any of these, as of 2 days ago. [:(])

I just ordered a set in 215/45R16 for my 16x8 ET40 Konig Dekagrams from tirerack. It is finally warm enough for me to order a new set of 200 TW tires for autocross. Current set of 200 TW went through two winters, so they hardened up quite a bit. I'll give a review after my autocross at the end of March, assuming beer-flu doesn't shut it down.

Freaking rear sway bar breaks two weeks before autocross season too....grumble, grumble. Just going to put stiffer springs on the rear to compensate.

I had a the Pierce rear bar and Swift springs and the combined effects made the car super tail happy- I dumped the rear bar and things are much better now.
