i think 225/50 r16 is too tall and rubs the top of the wheel liners

If some people are claiming their 225/45s are rubbing on FACTORY suspension, the 225/50s will DEFINITELY rub like crazy, maybe even to the point of cutting into the tire!

Yes, I agree. Do I need to roll the fenders to fit 225/45s on stock suspension? I want a little more sidewall but all the 205/50 options have less tread contact patch than my BFG S/C 2s... It's annoying. In fact, most 225/45 have smaller tread contact patch than the BFG SC2s.

Yes, I agree. Do I need to roll the fenders to fit 225/45s on stock suspension?

You will have to ask those on here who have those setups, or wait until I get mine in, and on the car.
I plan on using the very widest treaded, streetable (vs. road race slick) tire available in that size, the Yokohama A052, so if they don't rub, nothing will.

NO problem whatsoever, I just did not want anyone trying to put those on these cars, and ruining a $$$$ set of tires, or worse.

yeah that's why I corrected myself now that I saw it, havent been on the forum much but I was tinkering yesterday and it hit me while taking the back wheels off

The Falken RT660 IS made in that size, and has a very wide tread for that given size (probably the widest ever!), and is the tire I would use for these wheels in that size IF I wanted that size, and did not need an UHP all season, which are pretty much non-existent in that size.
(The 660s are A LOT less $$$ than the A052s as well, even in the comparative sizes in which they are both available. )

But I actually WANT the extra height of the Yok A052s, since I think that the smaller overall diameter of the 215/45s has too much fender gap for a factory ride height setup.

IF you are lowering the car, especially a bunch, you may have to go with the 215/45s.

yeah I might bite it on the Falkens unfortunately. I dont know how quality they are. I do plan on lowering a smidge with some coilovers but nothing crazy. luckly I can Sacrifice the all season. I have those on my other car and I just drive that when its shitty

The RT660 are damn good. Nearly same grip levels as RE71R and will likely last a little longer (local guy who works in the tire industry mentioned to me they specifically benchmarked it against RE71R and wanted it to have superior longevity).

I love my setup on 225/45/16 ZIIIs and the 16x8 Konigs + Bilstein coilovers. Yeah it rubbed pretty good on the fender liner at the autocross but on the street its fine.

Here are some pictures where I attempted to cover up my curbed wheel with Duplicolor bronze wheel paint. It's not an exact match, by any means, but does the job from standing back distance.

Still no issues with rubbing (on stock suspension), right? Even under spirited driving?
These Z3s seem like just what I’m looking for. I think I’m ready to pull the trigger on a set. I’m just a little concerned about the size.

I have only rubbed the front plastic wheel liner on a long 90 degree sweeper going 65-70 and over some larger dips at around 100. No other issues so far
