I know this thread is old but just a little new info.
I have been looking into the new Escape for a while now.
As it turns out, Ford has still not put out an Escape ST, at least as of yet.
However, the offered 2.0L EcoBoost is the same engine as the Focus ST.
I agree that no SUV will ever provide the handling like a FiST .
The Escape does have a lot of pep and is very comfortable.
It does give the option of much more room to those that need it and the price is a hell of a lot less then the Edge or Explorer STs.

Sorry to here that but then not everyone has the same outcome.
Then again that is what extended warranties are for.

Yeah. Dealership wrote the truck off and cleared the loan. Now she drives a 20 year old ranger thats worn out. It really suck because i tried to make sure she had a safe car. Being that she's in her 50's now.

I do understand as that is the reason I am looking at the Escape.
I would like to get rid of my wife's 6 year old Honda and also get all the new safety features.

Y'all are different than me my mom drove a 94 Nissan Altima for 22 years. She would still be driving it today if I could have kept it on the road.

A car wreck / vehicle safety is the least of my worries in today's world.

It took forever just to get my dad to get the airbag replaced in his 2006 Ford ranger.

Sorry for being a hard ass sometimes just the way I was brought up.

If they wrote off the loan what keeps someone from buying another vehicle don't quite understand that?

I do not replace vehicles I drive them till they no longer drive. I do not sell I do not trade. My parents don't either never have.

Financial reasons kept her from getting into another auto loan at the time. It wasnt by choice that things turned out this way.

My mom's not either with cars.
I recommended that she check out Hertz car sales, and she bought a 2014 Hyundai sonata with 50,000 miles at the end of 2015. That car has over a hundred thousand miles on it now and has had no problems. I know people got this thing about not buying rental cars well I disagree.
If anyone needs a reliable vehicle right now that's clean and up-to-date check out Hertz car sales they're selling off a lot of their fleet.

That car is built better than any Ford product. I know because I do all of the maintenance and repair work for my family.

What does everyone think they would charge for a base ST version (if that could ever happen), like $35K, or more?? [dunno]

Well I am still about $10K short for cash.
However, all of the taxes, license, prep fees, and 7/70 ESP warranty and maintenance is all included.

Not sure. The sport package escape like my moms 17' was a hell of quick vehicle. It will stomp on a early 00s 325.

Unless it was different in '17 the Sport (not hybrid) only has the 1.5L EcoBoost.

BTW, '17, '18, '19, & '20 have the same body style.

Hers had 2.0 ecoboost with 6 speed auto ( with flappys) and awd. 17' sport package. Near the same power as focus ST. It was stupid quick for a crossover.

Uprated engine might be part of the towing package. Which we also selected.

That is what I am looking at but a '19 Titanium.
The only difference, in a '20 is Ford went to a 10 speed auto and they are having a lot of troubles with that.
