Hey Guys/Gals,

I've been watching videos on youtube about the Elantra N and am actually really liking this car. I once considered getting the CTR but refused to pay the ridiculous STEALER Markup. (Same with the Focus RS)

Being that the CTR is too rare I'm considering this car as a tourer daily driver. (Now that the FiST is getting pretty rowdy as things are upgraded)

Anyone else impressed by this car?

Hyundai is no messing around. Glad to see others are noticing as well. I wanted the Veloster N but now the Elantra N with the added space and creature features is really pulling me in that direction.

I'm glad their paint will be better than fomoco

Yeah their QC (i've heard) has SIGNIFICANTLY stepped up their game. I would get the white one and throw some bronze wheels on it. Wish they had a gun metal color or matte gun metal color though. Maybe the 2023 will have some new goodies. I want to get something towards the end of next year if they continue with this performance trend.

agreed this would make a great daily driver especially with the DCT and dual purpose track car. Not sure if they rotate as easily as the Fiesta and as capable in AutoX, but I could be wrong. seems like a well put together package for around 35k. actually trying to convince my mom to replace her civic daily driver with this this.

also sucks with the CTR never quite ridding itself of the dealer markup and never consider going with a DCT. I like manuals but think manufacturers are shooting themself in the foot with sales when they don't offer an automatic option like the civic si. Can daily a manual in a city like Phoenix with less traffic but that would be murder for me with horrid Los Angeles traffic.

I'm originally from San Diego and can imagine how the traffic in LA is with a Manual. I really do miss the curvy roads in Cali though.

But yeah I wanted an Auto for some time but no one made a good one that wasn't a Porsche/Corvette etc. This seems like a legit DCT of the likes of Porsche and appears very impressive! The shifts are properly executed. So sick!

I can't get beyond the front maw hanging to the ground or the rear that looks like it was hit by a truck in the factory and smashed in.

Happy for them and the people who buy them to justify further production but I feel they dropped the ball regarding the exterior.

I get the exterior being polarizing and it's a good thing there's 3 body styles to choose from. Personally Im drawn most to the Kona N design wise, even if it gives up a bit in performance. Think it might even have the shortest wheelbase of all 3 models.

Yeah the KONA N is what I eyed 1st but the review I saw stated the Elentra had more storage capacity. And also the KONA is like a big FiST and I didn't want 2 of the same kind of car. But the other part of me thinks the KONA would be perfect for camping trips because of the added ride height. Ugh so hard to pick. But looking at just performance and a CTR'ish dynamic the Elantra calls to me. haha Plus F Honda and their Stealerships. The Hyundai in my neighborhood said they don't charge markups.

If this get in the Markup territory I hope Hyundai shuts it down. Especially because they need to get as many of these on the road and not just in the hands of a group of people willing to pay markups.

I honestly think the styling is interesting and I know it's not the best but the tech and performance gains quickly made that less of a concern. I actually haven't felt as excited for a car since the FiST until now. Throw in that 10 year 100,000 mile warranty and what can you lose?

Now that Ford has thrown us into the dumps by killing their good cars I'm looking for a new brand that is more connected with their fanbase and Hyundai seems to fit the bill. So long as they continue to make cars WE enjoy and not the older generation that wants quiet comfy cars.

I really don't like the exterior styling personally.

That being said, Brian at JST tuning (who used to own a veloster N) recently spoke extremely highly of the Elantra N after spending some time with it at Road Atlanta. Sounds like he might be picking one up. That's quite the endorsement.

I don't think this will be a type R killer though. For a fun, practical, daily driver, not sure it gets better than this

Indeed it's more about the exterior since all the engines are the same. I prefer the first gen Kona but I still like what the new Kona N is all about despite my utter hatred of crossovers, lol.

Loving what I see from Hyundai - just wish they'd hit us with an AWD option. Cautiously and optimistically awaiting their mid-engined model. If/when it comes to fruition, if it's not wearing a $70k genesis badge I'll buy one. I don't even care what it looks like. I can say confidently though that the fist is my 2nd ever and will be my last FWD car.

Thanks for posting that, it was a good video. I really like the car, and it's great to have another performance car option that's not an SUV. It looks like Hyundai has put a lot of thought into it.

Do you have an LSD in yours? It makes the FWD tolerable for sure.

The one thing I just thought about was that the Hyundai's aren't as easy to tune like our cars and golfs (Etc).

If only they could be tuned with the Cobb Access port. I'm curious to know what the limits of that DCT and 2.0 are once unlocked.
