I'm okay with a short term mark-up during the first model year or so. Was looking at new Mk8 Golf R in CA dealers and they are marked up 5k at the very least. You throw in your annoying supply chain issues and that's no help at all.
Maybe because Im old, I have the patience to wait a year or so. Now its a few years later and there's still a markup like the CTR or gt350r then no thanks! The GR corolla has the potential to be something special, with the golf r and wrx / sti being the only real competitors and if 35k price is true, then thats a huge plus and would undercut all its competitors and be evenly priced with the veloster n. with the success of the GR Yaris, Toyota is not likely going to mess this one up, or so Id hope.
Well hard to say as we don't know what the widebody treatment looks like. Actually do like some of the nicer bodykits on the corolla hatch. On a unrelated note, wouldn't mind a corrolla hybrid as a daily driver if it came in a hatch.
For some reason the California market has had the worst markups recently, at least that's what I've noticed with my GR86 search. I was able to find one relatively easy at MSRP. But yeah - GR Corolla is going to be a high demand / low production vehicle. I imagine it'll have some serious markups unfortunately

As im an advisor at a big name Ford dealer

I take the same offense as someone saying all cops are bad
I made the mistake of going back to the dealership I bought my ST from to buy a used Fiesta for my wife. Biggest mistake we ever made. Brakes were shot, front and rear and had to be replaced plus other problems. All those problems with only 54,000 on the clock. The car had only been driven less than 4,000 miles when we bought it. In my humble opinion, the car had NOT been given the once over before it was sold! So about $4,000 later, it's now running like new. Detroit weren't in the slightest bit interested in hearing about the dealership and the Service Manager, a female, who will remain nameless, would have done well as a prison guard in NK! I wouldn't take a FREE car from this dealership if they were giving them away. So yes, there are bad dealers around and I'm happy with my current one.

More performance cars coming to the US is always something to be excited for especially in the twilight of ICE cars.

As far as I'm concerned every new performance car that lands here is a big fuck you to Ford for cancelling the ST and RS. I don't know how long I'll have the FiST because I do love it but Ford never gets a car purchase from me again.
Bad News for you, Ford was not expecting you to buy another small Ford. The $$ was not there for the ST twins here in the USA. Have you looked at Ford stock lately? We buy trucks, SUV's and Mustangs, Ford is happy to supply them at a good profit. You can't expect Ford to keep selling cars that were losing money. Most FiST buyers had rebates with big discounts because the cars were not selling. Americans want BIG vehicles and slushbox transmissions. Only a few discerning people admire a FiST or even know what one is.

Just a little bit off topic, and to anger everybody that's a fan of the GR Yaris, I was in Mexico a couple of weeks ago when I stumbled upon one and decided to find out what's going on.

Turns out that Toyota did bring it to Mexico, and if there are still any available, it costs around $35,000.

As a bonus, and really off topic, the same thing happened with the Suzuki Jimny (https://www.jimny.com.mx/), they introduced it as a limited edition but due to it's success, it's now available for everybody to buy.

Why not Buy one there and then bring it here? Just like people who drive over the border everyday.....[thankyou] Not like it has to come through the shipping ports

Gotta that Flat Black one on the Mexican Toyota landing page looks sick in 2 door. I just cannot deny that. Fucking Toyota. Well I should not blame Toyota it’s fucking Murrican’s . The truck loving SUV driving masses.

They only ever offered it in a 2 door version (WISH that were so for our rides, even though sooo many on here claim that they 'need' the extra 2 doors). [wink]

Overall it looks amazing but I don't know how I feel about the rear qtr panel wide body treatment. It's a bit tacked on. The regaular XSE trim rear qtr already looked great. And the bulging hood is pure Genpoo mazdaspeed3 but I can live with that since I owned one. I may seriously leave the FiST behind if this thing drives as well as all the hype. 300hp is gonna hurt some feelings!
