I just installed my MTC. Fit and finish is great. Install was easy, only thing I had to do was remove the middle bracket like everyone else. Just did a few pulls and the charge temps stayed solid. Now in stage 2! So ecstatic with this thing.

Glad to hear! Can't wait for mine now. Hopefully show up so I can get it on Saturday.

Just took it for another drive and pushed it as hard as I could in 2nd and 3rd. Ambient temp was about 78 and the MTC got up to about 81 after constant pulls, I couldn't make it rise any more and I definitely couldn't heat soak it. I could get the stock FMIC to like 105-110 degrees and it would just sap the power of the car. Stage 2 + the FMIC makes a world of difference. Now I'm just waiting on my short shift kit and brake coolers!

Just how 'overkill' would the DHM RACE IC be on a car which might not ever even see a hybrid turbo, let alone a BIG aftermarket setup (like one of the larger DHM systems)??

I know "waste of money", "don't need it/unnecessary", etc., but, would/could it actually hurt the performance of a pure factory stock turbo setup at all (too much pressure drop/whatever)? [dunno]

I believe it would affect transient boost times but ultimately charge temps would be more constant. So, during normal driving where you go from no/negative boost to positive boost it would make those transitions take longer due to the massive increase in volume the turbo must fill to pressurise the system.

I measured a noticeable (although not awful) decrease in IC fill time with my Mishimoto J-Line. That's a 34% larger volume than stock. The DHM Race is 55% larger in volume. It will feel exactly like turbo lag.

Thanks, that's what I thought. [wink]

I guess I will stick with my plans for the CP-E IC then, since it also does not require the crash bar replacement (which I could see as being an insurance payout denial problem in the event of a front end collision anyway).

The potential liability if a passenger in my car ever got hurt is exactly why I'm not going the DHM race intercooler route. It's a shame, because their hardware is some very nice stuff! I think I've settled on CPE as well, oddly enough.

If you end up with the CPE let us know how it fits and performs. I'm thinking of swapping my current IC and the CPE is top of the list also.

I was not even thinking about any of the personal injury liability potential issues <-(GREAT POINT!), just the possible denial of property damage coverage (to my car as well as anyone else's involved) due to insurance companies' efforts to ALWAYS try and not pay in ANY way they can find/invent. [mad]
(Even though WE know the DHM crash bar might just be many times stronger than the factory one! ;))

I have a mountune ic. it isn't worth a ratsass with the upgraded turbo. I am gonna go for the crash bar and the race dhm ic. ,,,bob

Sad that at one point in time, the police "pace" program advocated aftermarket bars (certified but still...). Insurance pretty much put an end to all that. Want put some mild mods with the car? Facility... Want to track it and keep off the street... Facility... (Note: Facility insurance is where the drunks and habitually crashy go. Starts at 6k a year with 3k deductible for 3rd party insurance or something ridiculous like that).

Yes and no. Most ST's with an aftermarket crash bar also have an assortment of much easier to spot mods that would clue an adjuster in to take a closer look.

This would be a non-issue in the vast majority of cases, and extremely low probability, BUT I've fought with insurance companies before that involved my built up Jeep. It's an expensive nightmare. I was rear ended, and screwed up my neck. They tried to blame the custom roll cage. It's a risk you take with modified vehicles, which of course, every one I've ever owned is. Lol!

Just installed my MTC FMIC.
I must say i'm really impressed with the results, i had to remove the front air dam to make it fit properly, but it's no biggie.
I guess i could have had cutted a small part of the front air dam to make it fit but it was too much hassle :p

^^^Dosen't that part help deflect air into the radiator, and engine compartment to aid cooling, or is it's ONLY function for aero stability/minute MPG increase at highway speeds? [dunno]

I come from the 4th gen f body world where IF you removed that air dam/deflector on those cars, they would quickly overheat on the highway, unless you converted the car into a 'front breather' like some of the road racers did.

I dont really see how it could deflect any air on the radiator on it since the plastic cover + airdam kinda go all under the radiator... From what i've read it only act on the aerodynamics of the car (http://www.carsdirect.com/aftermarket-parts/how-a-front-air-dam-works)

The MTC looks to be the same as the Airtec. I had zero issue with Airtech and the airdam on my 2014: http://www.fiestastforum.com/forum/...iesta-ST-project?p=35165&viewfull=1#post35165

What exactly was your issue?


I would have needed to cut maybe 9mm of plastic in the plastic of that part of the air dam.
We tried to fit it and you can see that it made some frictions mark on the plastic.

I think it's slightly bigger than the airtech one, or maybe less standarized...

But honestly i dont really mind, haven't seen any difference so far and i've kept the air dam parts just incase.
