What "fees" do I have to pay a dealer to buy a new car?

The factory rebate on 2019's is $2500 or $3000 depending on how long it's been on the lot. So an additional $2000-$2500 from the dealer would be an exceptional buy.

At this point the market is heating up for the remainder of cars, Car Guru says selling price now is $1000 over the previous low prices at this point. If I was a dealer I also would be front loading them with bogus add ons as we see on this thread. No reason to dump the last one on the lot. I help my daughter buy a '19 4 months ago so she could get exactly what she wanted at a good price. Had she waited she would be paying $1500-2000 more and settle for what is available. Timing is important always but on a discontinued "cult" car
There about 300 cars left on lots. Who knows at hold lots around the country, 3700+ Ford dealers in the United States.

Ignore what you see on their internet sites, get a quote from the internet dept. I've been focusing on cars on the lot more than 50 days, that qualifies them for the additional $500 inventory reduction rebate.

Three dealers I have quotes from have the same sort of dealer add-ons, it's insane. Phil Long has some $689 package that they put on all the cars, so I'm told. That's nothing though, Epic Ford in Seattle $1494 for VIN Etching and 3M brand door edge guards. Frontier Ford in Anacortes, WA $2488 in add-ons everything from GPS anti-thief device (think CarLock) to Tinted Windows and I don't remember what else, I just kept track of the price of the stuff.

If you accept those add-ons, the car's price drop to a ridiculous amount.$16,888 for a base car no opt $16,407 for White car with Black wheels, all 2019's NEW.

Did you call Ford and ask if you have a private cash offer available? When you call, just tell the prompt "Rebates" and they will send you to marketing. J
If not request a brochure, there might be one in there. It's typically good for 30 days.

Go as far as you're willing to go. Pretty much every dealer has one.
I believe your numbers of FiST's are incorrect, in the Atlanta, GA region with 61 dealers they shows only 1 (had 2 Sunday) FiST's within 50 miles now. That was the Black one I sent you prices on, got email today wanting to deal again. Nashville, TN region shows O within 50 miles and 14 dealers. Nowhere near your one per dealer here. In 2016 there was only 7 within 100 mile radius I shopped in Atlanta. Had 1 in Chattanooga with 3 dealers and it was optioned fully and had additional add ons with dealer sticker of over $25K. Would not deal, I bought mine in GA. To see what is available in your area go to build and price, click on ST and go to search inventory within 100 miles of your zip code. Ford does not have any "hold lots" at least in the SE USA and IA, IL areas. May have had one in Mexico prior to shipping to the dealer. Shipments are direct to the dealer With the four new 4 Fords (2 FiST's) never had a dealer search anywhere but other dealers down here, their search options are the same as you have. Bought a car in TX,GA, NC and IA in past 3 years and stickers say origin, (Mexico for our FiST's) and shipped to a dealer on all stickers from Ford I have ever seen, never one shipping to holding lots anywhere. Top left of sticker shows dealer number and State shipped to. 2 FiST's, Mustang and Escape and only cars were at dealerships. Just looked and within 100 miles of 90024 they show 8 FiST's with 69 dealerships listed.

Do enough research on these forums and you can figure out what people have paid. I bought my 2017 for $18,750 cash after all the tax and fees.

Sure but the climate has since changed since 2017. I've been wheeling and dealing with 9 dealerships for weeks now. What Jmrtsus is saying seems to be true based on current availability.

What you paid means little without knowing your tax rates and fees, here in TN I paid almost $1500 in state, county and local taxes plus fees for tag and title. So over $1600 for me, also the price on a '19 is higher than my '16 or your '17. So direct comparisons are not so easy without sticker, OTD pre taxes and taxes on the cars. Same with rebates, I had $1000 on my '16 and some '19's have $3000.

Ads aren't always kept up to date in real-time but I show just under 300 cars on CarGurus and Cars.com. What is on holding lots is not immediately available to the public. Every dealer around here that had one, got another one. I don't believe all of those are dealer trades though certainly possible.

Despite the premismism on price and availability, the price on a few cars is dropping.

I've officially gotten under $17,000 pre-tax.

One of the Recaro cars has dropped an additional $853 down to $21,999

I can afford to keep some of these dealers on the hook a little while longer.

Remember, dealers are required by law to provide the necessary documentation for registration at no additional charge. This fee is limited in some states, so research your local regulations. Advertising fees are not something you have to pay for. They are part of the dealer's overhead, not the customer's fee. Be aware of other "creative" fees, such as taxable/non-taxable, administrative, tire, government, etc. This is often a profit-increasing tactic that you can dispute or negotiate. The cost of long distance car towing is usually included in the price of the window sticker. Avoid dealers with extra profit stickers and focus on those who don't have them so you have more bargaining power.
