Engine Cover: Plasti Diped

Just getting around to posting a picture of my Sunday project.



Three coats of White Plasti Dip, then 3 coats of Red Flexi Dip.

Total cost $13

Looks nice! Did this on past cars and it always made a nice difference when you pop the hood. Definitely on my list of things to do.

I'm wondering this too, it says up to 200 degrees on their website.

My buddy is always trying to plasti-dip something. Maybe I will get him to do this for me since he is always so eager and pushing this stuff.

Looks like you did a good job. Not sure how I feel about the red on a PB, but good effort. Blue would look better with a few layers of clear to make it glossy.

I got my cobb installed Monday and have been dogging my car pretty hard around the streets and it has held up without issue.

I know the dip your car guy has had his super charger cover dipped for a couple years.

Time will tell. I would like to see how it holds up after a track day.

Thing is I have now got some Blue I am going to try and was thinking for a track day in summer just pop it off for the day as I never open my hood anyway unless told to makes em think you got speed secrets LOL

Thats a good idea!

I wanted to do blue but I think the standard blue and blaze blue will be too light to match the exterior color.

That being said, I would love to be proved wrong!
If they sold blue at home depot I would give it a shot.

Little tip: run a razor blade along the seam between the black and red sections before peeling.

When I peeled the lower portion off on my first attempt it did not leave a clean edge.

Awesome thanks I have the blaze blue and was going for a JS silicone hose blue under hood as I know it wont match the PB color



I did a test bit on some dark steel I had laying around and it seems rather bright but will see. I was going to mask off and then still razor cut the edges and glad to know that is the Hot Tip

You could do blaze blue and hit it with some tail light plasti dip smoke. That may tame the blaze color some.

I have also seen others spray paint over plastic dip ... suppose to be a pita to remove but it is not permanent.

Otherwise if I had a spray gun id just mix in so dye to darken up the dip but I am sticking with rattle cans for now.
