I have one sold by a different vendor that cost me $245 during the summer of 2014. Much larger than the OEM and the fit was tight, but I didn't have to trim anything. I don't know where that extra plate was supposed to. Never got around to testing the performance as I was to lazy to figure out how to data log with the COBB AP.

Did it feel any different as far as performance compared to stock intercooler?

You can also get a pretty good looking IC from svtdesignfab.com for a lower price.

^ interesting site

Anyone done any screening to help keep their pretty new IC fins from getting bent-over and dinged up like the OEM? If so, what solution did you use or come up with?

I have one of those eBay intercoolers. Looks a lot (identical?) like this Mishimoto intercooler, right down to the tabs and shield thingy (which I didn't use, either). It's definitely bigger than the stocker. I don't know about performance differences because I wasn't monitoring things with the stock intercooler.
Fit nicely in place of the stock one and seems to work just fine.

I don't think I have that exact one, but about ten years ago on the Mustang forums some guy did a side by side analysis of the Mishimoto intercooler and an eBay one (like @killer5280 is alluding to). He had access to some pretty advanced tools and concluded that they were exactly the same piece and likely even made in the same factory. They were completely identical in every way except for one saying MISHIMOTO on it.

Whichever one that was - I'd have to dig through my emails from a long time ago - I've had it on the car since maybe mid-2018 with absolutely zero problems.

I have a similar knockoff from eBay, it fits in stock location but it's snug... I tracked temps before and after and I stay about 20⁰ cooler than when I had the factory intercooler in... I rarely get to 10⁰ above ambient

Pretty clear to me that they are the same item.

The OEM Intercooler is Tube and Fin* most aftermarket ones are Bar and Plate. Bar and plate is the better option. Read up my friend.

I’ve read about intercoolers and know that bar and plate is better. I know the Mishi unit is still tube and fin.
I just wanted to know if anyone has positive experience with the eBay units and actual results whether good or bad.

I think I will just spend the extra $100 and get a v1 whoosh unit.

I used to have an srt4 and I know that the cx racing units on ebay were good and had good results and performed well. I was just wondering if there were similar results from eBay for the Fist.

I have nothing but praise for my eBay special, it's a clone of the cobb(dimensions are identical) and is bar and plate

Most of those eBay units say they are bar and plate construction, including the one I bought so maybe it's not identical to the Mishimoto unit in spite of the fact that they look the same.
I looked a little closer and there are visible differences between the Mishimoto units and the eBay ones.
