I recall it was 75W-80 but now it looks like it's advertised as 75W-75? Did the formulation change since then?

https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/driveline/bg-syncro-shift-ii/

> BG Syncro Shift® II is an API GL-4 gear lubricant blended to SAE 75W-75 viscosity and may be effectively used in all vehicles where engine oil, ATF, or GL-4 gear oil is specified as “service fill” for manual transmissions.

Yeah, that is now like the Ravenol MTF-3 in viscosity.

Great for the very northernmost parts of your province in winter, probably not ideal for summer use anywhere south of that, especially not for any open track use at all.

That said, it's 7.1 cSt@100*C spec does seem to be OK, and it still meets the Ford WSS-M2C200-D2 spec, but then the Ford spec is based on the watery DTC fluids, so [dunno].

Interesting, I wonder why they changed it.

I am currently running MTF 3 but there is no Ravenol distributor in my area and there is a BG one, so if they carry Syncro Shift I might give it a go.

Another person in my town has 2018 bottles that are 75W-80 so they definitely changed the spec at some point.

Oh, interesting! I was just about to order some more since I change my gear fluid every 30k and I'm coming up on 90k. I've historically used the Synchro-Shift and been very happy with it, but now I'm wondering if I should switch to something else. I wrote to BG to ask if the formula changed or just the label did. I will report back.

“Yes, BG 792 Synchroshift II is the same formulation as it has been. The SAE updated and adjusted the viscosity parameters for gear oil with the introduction of newer, lower viscosity lubricants into the market. This tightening moved BG Synchroshift II from a 75W-80 to a 75W-75 formulation.”

Thanks for checking with BG. Can use both if you have old stock of the 80.
