The wheel gap is definitely ridiculous but it will do for track use until coilovers become a necessity.
I don't know anything about autocross so didn't know if you were in a class that dictates use of stock suspension only.

IF that were the case, he would not be allowed to go 2" lower than factory stock in wheel diameter, or 1" wider either. ;)

The way his car sits is only a little higher than your typical GRC/World/British Rallycross ride, so to me at least, it does not look quite as bad as I thought it would with that wheel/tire setup (the height of the 205/50 tire, and GREAT looks of the 1.2s help it A LOT!!).

maybe not "meaty" by some people's definition but I consider them meaty based on the descriptions I've seen in this thread. They have about 1 inch more sidewall than my stock 205/40/17 did (optional michelin as3 pilot sport all season tires) and I have a couple comparo pics between the stock setup and my new setup which is 15x8 team dynamics pro race 1.2 +35 offset with BF Goodrich sport comp 2 in 195/55/15. These are virtually identical in OD to my stock setup so speedo and gearing and other things aren't effected. These are some very wide 195s as many of you already know. They seem to be a little wider than the stock 205 all seasons but some of that could be contributed to the fact they are mounted on an 8 inch wheel. Tread width according to tire rack is 7.7 inches so they have a very slight stretch and fit great on the wheels. Response and handling is awesome maybe it's just me but I have not noticed much loss on handling, response or turn in. Car handles amazing with this setup. Could be because i'm running 40 psi front 37 rear little high which helps support the sidewall more for less give from the taller sidewall and also due to the fact they are mounted on an 8 inch wide wheel with very slight stretch which helps plant the entire contact patch and also helps with sidewall support. It's a great setup and I love it all the way around. These tires are 21 lbs vs 20 lbs for my stock tires so I lost just over 6 lbs per corner going with this setup. I weighed the wheels at 15.4 lbs without center caps when I first got them. If I decided to go with some 205/50 star specs next time I could save another 2 lbs per corner as they are only 19 lbs and have more ultimate grip to boot, albiet less tread life obviously. I'm very happy with the setup and it does great considering I'm still on 100% stock suspension as of now. The car actually looks pretty good despite the stock height. I plan to go with some h&r sport springs soon unless I can find a way to shoot for the stars and go ahead and get the MiesterR coils I want from jump street. I have other things I need and want starting with a short shift kit and rear motor mount as well as the DHM crash bar and race intercooler. That is something I'm very intersted in so I may just go with the h&r sport springs for now to improve on looks and handling to tide me over until the stock dampers let go then maybe I can try to go for the MiesterR coils at that time and sell the h&r springs to help with the cost. Anyways I figured I would contribue to the "meaty" tires tread...this setup is better in all ways in my oppinion and of course it rides noticeably better too. Much more comfortable for day to day driving. I highly recommend this setup. 695 shipped purchased through pca-1 and that was a great experience as well. Highly recommend the team dynamics wheels, in particular the 15x8 +35 pro race 1.2. The BFG sport comp 2 is also a great tire if you want a nice gripping summer tire that you can daily and actually get some decent milage out of.

I am running this exact wheel/tire set-up and really love it. I did purchased/mounted tires at costco and I've had them re-balance a third time already. First time I was feeling steering wheel vibrations around 50-60 then again at 70 MPH. Second time that changed and I was feeling it at 70+ getting worst at 80+. Third time "may" have been a charm. Haven't been able to fully test this yet.

Initially I thought I would need an alignment to fix this, but the alignment guy told me to take it back and have them speed-balance each corner. Unfortunately the costco supervisor didn't know what speed-balancing was, so I just left it at what speed the issue is coming up. The outcome is that costco says the balance is correct and that what I am missing is hub rings, which I understand are not needed for the Pro Race in the 63.4 hub bore. I'll have more to report once I test further.

I am also considering that springs may be the phase 1 suspension approach for me, but wondering what rubbing risks I may run into due to the wider wheel/tire stance. My only complaint of the stock set-up is the bounce it goes into on the freeway. As for tracking, with the new wheel set-up my next track day may prove me wrong, but no complaints from my previous track day on stock wheels. I don't mind the larger wheel gap, but the freeway bounce I could do without and springs seems like a more cost-effective solution for that. NOT comparing springs to coils here.

Latest wheel balance probably did the trick. There is a tinny bit left, but not sure if I am just being OCD at this point. Next thing should probably be an alignment.

I like the Eibach springs. Others have mentioned the h&r but the h&r drop is a bit further. There are several previous topics you can look into here to help you decide if need be.

I am to a point where I need to call upon the meaty tire gods. I recently purchased a set of T.D. 1.2s in 15X8 ET 35. I'm planning on running a 225/45R15 nitto NT01tire. How bad is this set up going to rub with my H&R springs ?


I am already planning on getting the fenders all rolled and pulled. I was just curious as to if the car will even be drivable with this set up.

Just to let you know, I'm on sport h&r' s and after going up to 205/50 from 205/45, I started rubbing in the front. It's not terrible but on full lock I know I'm rubbing the liner. I had an rx8 with 9.5's that rubbed here and there with rolled fenders so it doesn't bother me.

The 6pt brace was too low for street driving and that's why I went up to 205/50 but I ordered the coils as it will be too low with my winters. 195/50/16 winter set up.

Do the winter 195/50-16s rub anywhere in the fender wells with the H&Rs (disregarding the brace)?

I have not tried that yet , as I bought my car mid November of last year (brand new). It was stock for every little and since then it's gotten some goodies at a steady pace. wife starting to look annoyed lol

My sc2's were 205/45/16 with no problem ever but on these springs i bottom out quite a bit ( annoying as Faaaa ( faaa continues to echo)
