That's the exact opposite of what you want to do to an intake because header wrap is designed to hold heat in. You'd be much better served by removing it and replacing it with the reflective tape designed to keep heat out.

Exactly! The 2 hp you gained from that injen intake was just lost and then some probably

On the other hand, the wrap could keep engine bay heat out of the intake tract... Insulation works both ways. Just saying... ;-)

No, it doesn't. Header wrap is designed to soak up and hold heat. That's why an engine bay is cooler when it's installed on a header. When it's installed on an intake it soaks and holds the engine bay heat, transferring it directly to the intake tube.

Conversely, reflective tape designed for intakes does exactly what it sounds like-it reflects the engine bay heat from the intake tract, allowing for less transfer from the tube to the air passing through it. They are separate products for a reason, and it's not because it's a conspiracy to get more money out of enthusiasts.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Different kinds of insulation do different things...

Mountune springs and my OA badges installed while I'm out of town. As much as I am enjoying our vacation, can't wait to get back and see it in my driveway!

This is why motocross bikes have gold reflective tape or "tank blankets" on the bottom side since they are inches from a hot motor. You do not want superheated fuel going into your engine, same goes with air.

Header/Exhaust manifold wrapping is as mentioned above to trap the head inside the exhaust system to expel it, or for us turbo guys, get the most heat and "bang" to the snail.

If you put hot air/fuel mixture into your engine, you're gonna have a bad time.
