Cam belt

I have a 2015 1.6L Fiesta ST-3 which has only done 45000 miles.
Because of mobility issues I reluctantly need to part exchange my car for something that is easier to get in and out of.
The salesman told me it is due a cam belt change, and because of this offered me a ridiculously low price for my car.
So my question is, does anybody know roughly what how much it would be to have the work done? Any recommendations in the Southampton area would be helpful.
Or, would I be better off selling it privately? It's a lovely car...been well looked after.
My husband recently passed away, and he always used to take the car for MOTs and services...so I'm at a loss really.
TIA.

Assuming hes talking about the timing belt. Which he is wrong. The interval to change the belt is at 150k miles I'm pretty sure.

He might be referring to/implying it aging out due to being almost 10 years old.

Mine is ~8 years old with the same (45K miles) mileage on it, and I have NO intention of changing it anytime soon!

But yes, that belt is covered all of the time, and is not subjected to crazy heat (like some parts of our land have half the year) in the UK, so of course it should be fine, and that greedy sales 'rep' is just trying to get over on Soton Lass. [mad]

Yes, I actually got in touch with a friend of my late husband, he's a Ford mechanic, and he said exactly the same thing...so I'm not going to get it done. I'm more informed now...thank you for the replies.

Just to state a contrary opinion, I don't think it's completely ridiculous to have to change a timing belt on a 9-year-old car. The American service interval is 150,000 miles as stated above, but I have seen a European service schedule that said to change it at 125,000 mi or 10 years, whichever comes first. I'll attach it below just for reference.
The engine is what's called an interference engine, if the belt breaks it can and usually does destroy the engine.
That said, even under the European schedule it's not due for another year, and it seems unreasonable to devalue the car because that may be due in the future.
