tubaST Thanks again for the hookup on those steelies. I zoomed over to my local tire shop as the snow started falling and Americas Tire Co gave me the runaround claiming he cannot legally mount them without selling me new TPMS sensors and he would "waive the tire mounting fee and balancing.." I said dude its snowing you close in less than an hour dont jerk me around just bolt the wheels on you aren't even mounting anything I just live on a slope with no garage. He wanted to take my sensors out of my Sparcos to use in the steelies, and get this, would have to "keep" my two front tires because they are so worn for safety reasons.. Lol So gut my Sparcos for the sensors then send me home with two less Falken Ziex tires with another year or two left on the tread, just to get my steelies and winter tires which are already mounted and balanced and aired up, on my vehicle so I can go home? Dang what a deal. I get nothing but shiesty vibes from my local Americas Tire Co. Drove over to a new wheel shop in town that isnt a chain, owner comes out to my car complimenting the only Fiesta ST hes seen in his shop and said no problem about the sensors lets just get your winter wheels on and get you home, 20mins later im out the door no cost and they let me install some new exhaust clamps and lent me some copper gasket maker to seal a leak first. Talk about world of difference...Okay TMI Anyway Ive been scooting around through 12'' snow and ice, slush, bumper high berms of packed sierra cement, uphill downhill, offroad steep driveways, mud you name it. These Michelin X-Ice tires have not slipped or spun once and Ive been doing deliveries to people who claim to be "snowed in" at higher elevation. Still carry the chains you gave me but honestly I dont think I will ever use them the snow will be too high before these tires even think of slipping! Sorry for the long story I'm just thankful I have a set of rubber to get me to work and even doing instacart to people who wont take their Subaru out of the driveway. My old MK4 GTI VR6 with 235/30/18 Michelin all seasons was always a beast in the snow and so far the FiST is proving to be just as dependable in snow. People outside digging their cars out giving me funny looks as they hear my 3'' exhaust humming down an otherwise eerily silent backroad like Im the only vehicle they have seen in days. When these hit their 10yr service life I will definitely buy whatever Michelin is selling as the replacement for the X-Ice, top tier performance from Michelin ***** thx
