Just picked up 15x8 +35 Dekagrams
would like to try the 225/50r15
The only street tire i see is the ECSTA AST (I know they are H rated not planning to go over 130mph)
At 85$ a tire i think its worth trying.
anyone have any experience with this set up?

reason is to protect the wheels, have good proportion tire to wheel width.
car is on stock springs.
thanks

or should I just stick with 205/50/r15

Stick with 205/50R15 as there are tons of street tires in that size.

The 225/50 is quite tall for the Fiesta ST. @cidsamuth ran 225/50R15 Hoosier R7's on his track car and i kept making fun of it saying it looked like a monster truck.

225/45R15 is another size that works on the 15x8 but there are not a ton of options for street based tires that arent 200tw.

Lol i won't mind looking like a monster truck!. Was just worried of rubbing.
At the moment im driving 80 miles a day minimum.
I may just pull the trigger, because they are cheap at 80$ each and will probobly change them out in a year, by then it may be a weekend car with stickier 205s.

205/50R15 selection is massive in street tires.

Accelera Phi R - $71/ea with a 15% coupon available on tirestreets.com(use NWRA15)
Hankook Ventus - $93/ea
Kumho Ecsta PA31 - $86/ea - DTD
Kumho Ecsta PS31 - $97/ea - Tire Rack
Nitto Neo Gen - $96/ea - Tire Rack
Yokohama Advan Flevia $107/ea - DTD
Yokohama Advan Flevia - $130/ea - Tire Rack

If they are just to get you around town id go with something with high treadwear. Grab a second set of wheels for track day duties if you can.

If you want a (street, 300 tread wear, but summer only) tire which is slightly shorter than those 225/50-15s but taller (to fill the wheel wells more, especially at factory ride height, and be slightly cushier than the 205/50s), the Advan Flevias are (basically the only tire still) made in a 205/55-15 size. [wink]

Yes i was looking into the Advan I can't justify the price, compared to 205 and 225 50s

My other option that I keep thinking is the Hankooks at $73 amazon!
But leaning toward the 225s just for extra curb rash for less then 10$ more a tire. Might scratch my itch get 225s and then get the Hankook from there on.

Thanks Kevinatfms and M-sport Fan for the info.

p.s. ordered my Koni yellows for the front, stock springs.

Quick dirty update picture. Hopefully some helpful information.

15x8 +35 Dekagrams
225/50r15 ECSTA AST
Stock springs
Installed koni yellows up front.
Rear koni yellos and poly spring mounts on the way...

7.6 pounds lighter than stock
total of 30.4 lbs of rotational weight removed off the car.

No rubbing while turning or driveways.
Only rubbed lightly when bottoming out the suspension on a bad bump on the freeway.

Tracker looks fun! Is it a decent SxS replacement?

Not a replacement, Had a SXS for a few years, could not fully enjoy it when it cost 1.5X more than a new fiesta!
(my bothers rzr is on the trailer a 37k beast...goes out only 3-4 times a year)

my pros for getting tracker:
Tracker can make it mostly anywhere a SXS can go just slower (alot slower) and with more of a challenge which I enjoy.
Biggest is that its Street legal, love driving this thing around town or taking my dogs to the park, fun project to wrench on.
A/C, Manual, flat tow (no trailer needed), full built should be 7k. if i destroy it off-roading no big deal at 7k HAHA

That’s really cool! I would definitely take a tracker over a SxS
