Sometimes the ac will work perfectly while I’m driving and then it’ll just blow warmish air. I’ve been having this issue since last year, summer time, but it never really bothered me enough because I work nights and it usually doesn’t happen during colder temperatures. The ac clutch will be engaged but still blow warm. Usually happens after stop and go traffic on hotter days(above 80ish degrees Fahrenheit). I’ve attached two pictures to show when the ac is working and when it is not. I’ve haven’t checked to see how much Freon I have but I don’t think it is a concern due to the ac getting really cold when it’s working.

Is it holding steady at 30 PSI I see it that one picture? or is it going down then back up down and back up?

I assume the coolant fan runs when the AC is on.

It can be undercharged or over charged. Have you ever yourself put Freon into the vehicle?

If I remember correctly it’ll go up to around 40-45 and then back down to 30-35. The cooling fan does come on and stay on. Also no I haven’t tried to add or remove Freon.

This is what I would do put AC on full blast with all the doors open. It should hold steady at whatever PSI let's say 30 if it's going from 30 to let's say 45 and back down to 30 and then back up 45 and it's repeating that cycle that's a sign of low refrigerant.

By looking at your high pressure side you are definitely not overcharged.

I don't know about the issue with the hoses getting a kink in them, but if that is an issue that could also be problematic.

When you don't have enough refrigerant it will cool great until it freezes up, then it'll blow hot air until it thaws out.

Hello StevieST95, I am having the same exact problem. The only difference is mine has been doing it for years.
Question is did you ever figure out what the problem was and what fixed it?

Sounds like the system needs to be purged....vacuumed and the filled back up with Dye to check for leaks.

Yes that is exactly what I thought so I took it to an A/C specialist, He had it for the 7 hours and gave it back saying it needed a compressor, condensor, dryer, evaporator and some pressure switches. basically everything except the dash electronics. That cost $150 and
his quote was $1500
There were no leaks and no codes.
Guess I know what I'll be doing next weekend.

Seems to me he should be revoked of his specialist status. Sounds like he just wants to make money. What a joke*

This is probably a long shot trying to get an answer on this old thread but I’ve noticed some things throughout the years. (The issue still continues, I’ve just dealt with it.) If my air starts blowing warm I can either hit a bump or downshift and get my rpm’s above 3k and it’ll start blowing cold again. On the highway these two “remedies” will work until I hit the next bump or if I start cruising below 3k, same in stop and go traffic. I plan on replacing my radiator soon so I’ll check the kinked hose TyphoonFiST mention until then. I also have a buddy at a dealership with an A/C machine and we verified that it had the correct amount of Freon in it but just to be safe we vacuumed and refilled it to spec. I don’t know if any of this info is useful but I appreciate any help. Thank y’all 🙏🏽.
