A few issues with my 2016 Ford Fiesta

I've been having a few small issues with my Ford Fiesta lately. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid from having constant car troubles in the past or if there are actual problems I need to fix.

1) My car stalls after I fill up my gas tank (I've read through forms here and will more than likely be switching out the purge valve)

2) After getting gas the other day, my Fiesta turned over fine, but once in "drive" it was acting like it was in neutral. No power at the gas pedal and just rolling. I turned it off for a minute or two (as I panicked! lol) and tried again, once I started it up (took maybe half a second longer than normal for it to click over) and it was fine.

3) Driving it today I noticed it was struggling to Idle at the stop lights, it sounded like it was going to just shut off almost every time I came to a complete stop. It never did shut off but I was worried it would.

I just got the oil changed a few weeks ago, checked all my fluids this morning, everything looks and smells normal! There are no light popping up on my car to tell me if there is an issue, but I feel like there is. I don't know any type of mechanic near me that I could ask and I really don't want to take it into a shop for them to either rip me off (which has happened in the past) or have them not even look into it seriously and fix the wrong parts, leaving me with the same issues (which has also happened in the past).

I'm hoping I will be able to fix some of the smaller issues myself, not only to save money, but also so I can learn to do the little upkeeps on my car myself.

Thank you to anyone who can possibly help or lead me in the right direction!

It's the evaporator canister. Or purge valve solenoid. It has been a common issue. Do a little searching on the forum and you'll see a lot of threads about this. Stalling after fueling. Stuttering after fillup. A number of the threads will even have part numbers to order and so on.

Thank You! I was planning on replacing the purge valve after scrolling through but wasn't sure if the other issues were something different! I think I found the parts I'm looking for. Do you happen to know if Ford Fiesta ST parts can be used on a Ford Fiesta SE? Sorry I know very little about cars

No. Most parts are not the same. You'll need to search for the parts that match your car. Try going to Tasca Parts . If you have the 1.6 l. the emissions parts are on this page: https://www.tascaparts.com/v-2016-ford-fiesta--se--1-6l-l4-gas/emission-system--emission-components

I recommend having a mechanic diagnose it. This car has way to many issues with it because Ford made this car piss poor.

I did what you did and decided to self diagnose it and paid for the purge valve and it turned out to be a canister issue.

Once you have the mechanic confirm by performing some testing options. Then you can fix it on your own.

That being said it could be numerous problems since your dash doesn't have any codes to give you a specific idea what's going on.

- catalytic converter will display issues that you are having.
- Timing belt can make this problem.
- Low battery power.
- PCM issues.

Just get it diagnosed by mechanic. This cost me around 100 bucks. Mechanics charge 80to100 per hour.

DONT TAKE IT TO FORD. FOR ANY SIMPLE REPAIRS. ANYTHING WITH THE COMPUTER YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THEM.

This may come off as unfriendly but this is a site for the ST, and I'm sorry for anyone having problems, but there are regular fiesta sites very different vehicles in a lot of ways. I have noticed a significant increase in people asking questions about the regular fiesta that is not what we have. Completely different engine and transmission.

With that said if your fiesta is equipped with the automatic transmission it could be a transmission problem.

If this seems to only happen after you get gas it definitely could be as someone else said the evaporator canister or purge valve.

please do not troll our forums . Fiesta ST’s are completely different from base Fiestas and SE’s if you knew this you would not be posting here nor would the OP.

Please read the Forum before posting as A: Our cars do not have the Ford Dry Dual Disc semi automatic that your car comes with our cars only came with a 6 speed manual. Our engines were built in the UK and have Turbochargers and put out 200hp stock. B: Our suspension and geometry is different as well based off your cars but different.
Though they look quit a bit similar on the outside due to being assembled in Mexico like your car that is where it ends.
So ya get your lawsuit trolling out of here.

The purge valve is a purge valve no matter what letters come after 'fiesta'. Don't buy the valve only from Rock - it's the correct Bosch piece, but w/o the molded hoses....no bueno. Just order from any thousand sources, the correct part. Ron from Woosh will gladly provide you with one.

I am guessing that those (NA/DCT/3-pot) sites are not all that helpful, or responsive, hence all of those owners coming on here for advice/suggestions. [dunno]

I'm on the regular Fiesta forum linked from this one, and it's not nearly as active.
