I picked up a new shift knob a while ago from CJPonyParts.
It said I didn't need an adapter for the reverse lockout and I installed it per the instructions:
-Move shifter into reverse
-Twist off stock knob
-Add threadlocker and thread on new knob to same height
The problem is that when pulling the sliver ring into the bottom of the shift knob, it doesn't always allow me to shift into reverse.
I've found that when I grab below the shift ring and actually feel the cable/mechanism that should connect to the ring, I can slide it effortlessly into reverse.
Could anyone point me in the direction of a detailed blowup of the shifter, specifically around any parts related to the reverse lockout? Or, has this happened to anyone else? I'd like to get the silver ring to be the only thing I need to grab for the gearbox to go into reverse. It's dumb having to explain it to a valet driver.
