So back in late March my FiST got T-boned on the driver’s side in a work parking lot. Long story short, insurance basically screwed me because of the weird circumstances of the accident (huge construction job site), so I’m kind of on my own here.
It’s a 2014 with about 145k miles. What really stings is that only about four months before the accident I had knocked out all the big preventative maintenance—timing belt, gaskets, blend door actuator, and a bunch of other odds and ends. I had finally gotten the car to where I wanted it mechanically.
The guy who hit me was speeding. Thankfully the engine is fine and the frame wasn’t damaged. It still runs and drives, but the driver’s side fender, wheel well, and suspension took a pretty good hit.
The collision shop here in Boise quoted me around $6k to fix it, and that was a punch to the gut considering I’ve already put well over that into keeping this thing in great shape. It’s paid off, and with what clean FiSTs are selling for these days, I’d honestly rather save this one than go buy another.
Just curious if anyone here has repaired similar damage, gone the DIY route, or found a better way to get one of these back on the road. I’d love to hear what you ended up doing. I’ll throw some pictures up too.
